fizzle
well... the hose on the bottom of the rad burst off, dumping all contents on the floor and the auto box wouldnt engage, a creamy coffee coloured mix came out bottom of rad. i disconnected the rad refilled the trans fluid and all was good, no leaks etc,(minus a rad) after leavin it running for a bit checked the trans fluid and it had the same coffee coloured slime on the dipstick..... Ric
there is a cooler within the radiator, the joint between those has probably gone, new rad for you, and flush out the engine and gear box of contaminated oil/coolant

Chris Wilson
Once an auto box has had water in it it's usually goodnight Vienna, sometime down the road. The valve block won't like it, the brake and clutch bands won't like, the bearings won't like it... I'd keep an eye open for a good used box and torque converter and flush the coolant lines and cooler when you fit it.
Swampy442
What gearbox does the hilux have? Im taking it for granted that it uses the radiator mounted cooler?
