Kopite
So Terry named skipper again, Rio vice captain. Opinions? I'm happier Terry got it over Ferdinand, don't rate Rio as a player or a person. Terry isn't a great role model either so i'd have preferred Gerrard to have got it over those 2....but i don't think Gerrard is a great captain for Liverpool or England either. P.S. If you don't care then don't reply
Rob Dublin
Seconded about Rio, sham of a player. Terry isn't exactly a great role model either, is it the captain's roll to kick an opponent that's already on the ground? (Torres last season)
steb9780
I think Gerrard is the best role-model out of the lot. But being a Liverpool fan the England captaincy is added pressure I wouldn't want on him. So "plug from the bash street kids", or JT "the thug with banana skin boots" can have it for me. MaveriK
I am sorry, i think "JT" is a terrible captain. His conduct during his duties has been a shambles. As for his football he hasnt had a good season for a couple of years and he also has the turning circle of a ferry boat and the speed to boot. Dont think Gerrard should have it either, he has to concentrate on his England form as that is well below the standard he sets for the scouse. Neville would have been my choice but its going to be a few games before we know if he is match fit or not.
R Black
Not seen the team sheet but i would go with Neville over Terry, who is a thug, then Ferd then Gerrard great player NO capt, maybe Woodgate if picked.
jonahjones26
Ferdy not sure about him being captain.......your all wrong about him, he's an excellent defender. Terry (who i hate as i hate chelsea) is probably a better choice as a captain.....gerrard excellent player but not a great capatain but gives 100%, great work rate....and an excellent role model for the players and fans. So in conclusion i would choose ROOOOOOOOOOOOONEY!

Swampy442
Lol when I saw the thread title and the poster was Kopite I just knew his choice would be Gerrard I think Terry is a good choice, he embodies the no fear never say die attitude an England captain needs and the public demand. As a player sure he's lacking but his passion isnt. I also dont rate Ferdinand as a player, he's good, but Woodgate in his prime was superior, as is Lesley King when he's fit... Trig
I think Terry is probably the best choice out of the 3. Although being a chelsea fan im probably as bit biased but im not sure the added pressure will help him much, especially if the results dont go our way in the England games. Youve got to admit, although not much of a role model, he is a double hard b@stard!!
Kopite
I just find it difficult to pick a captain out of that team. Neville is a poor sportsman at best too, he's shown that plenty of times. Rio - drugs test ban, general silly moments the media pick up on would undermine him. JT - good example set on the pitch but i'm surprised he was named England captain last time when he was once banned from playing for England. Also don't think much of him and Lampard for their conduct in that airport on 9/11..
