speed camera question

the type im talking about are the van type which you see parked up on the side of roads with the camera facing out of the rear of it.

i was driving along the motorway at quite high leptons and approached one of these. i hit the brakes as soon as i saw it but as they say if youve seen a one of these then chances are its already caught you. but as i passed i noticed both rear windows were still in place. whenever ive seen one of these vans the rear window always seems to be down with the camera exposed. so im wondering/hoping that the van was either being set up or packing everything up and about to go. do these vans operate with the rear windows in place?

I should imagine they'd have to have the windows open in order to prove there's no interference between the camera and the numberplate... Else they'd all be operating behind windows to be more inconspicuous... Of course, that's just a guess...

there are some around my area which have the doors and windows closed, but at the top of the window is a untinted area

behind that is a shelf in which the cameras sit, you can see the lenses if you are slow enough

Sound as well now?!

Due to people going and taking exception to the fact they had been caught have been a few incidents in scotland where they have turned round and started to kick the crap out of the vans with baseball bats. They have cameras and sound to capture anyone who decides to do so.
