A quick update. The heads are coming together, and the new gaskets are in. The rotating assmebly is being balanced and should be done in the next day or so. In the meantime, here's the block bored out to 96mm. Once the rotating assembly comes back from balancing, it's all ready to assemble. Looking great!!

Wow that's so impressive. I was hoping the build-up would have been finished already as I just stumbled upon this section since I'm new. I'd like to ask, aside from the responsiveness of the V8, is it (the 2UZ V8 engine) lighter than the 2JZ engine?

I'm thinking the 2UZ might be an aluminum or alumi-alloy block whereas the 2JZ is an iron block so it's (2JZ) heavier.

IMHO beyond BPU++ and into serious HP, nothing beats displacement esp. for a street and circuit car :)

Congrats, am impressed so very very much :)

Eric, quick question. Minus engine, how much will everything else cost to fit the V8 in? I was toying with the idea of going 3.4l stroker on my 2JZ but the V8 looks unique. If you have a sort of "kit" for it, sans engine, how much would the "install" kit cost and what parts do it include?

I'm asking for the installation /conversion only parts since I'm in the Philippines and if I did go the V8 route I'd get everything from you save the engine, which I can source locally. Thanks :)

Right, the 2uz is an iron block and is a tad heavier than the 2jz. However it moves the weight further towards the center and not so much is hanging over the nose. I think botachi is talking about Tq off the line, which being a V8 with 57% more displacement, more toq is inherent.

Thanks!
