ivan
Seems they managed to shunt the back of the car with an Audi R8. http://www.themotorreport.com.au/5976/nissan-r35-gt-r-crashed-by-top-gear-magazine/

RedM
Muppets! I wonder if that means there is some more GT-R on this series of TG. Shame it's not on ITV. It could be Top Gear sponsored by the new Nissan GT-R! On a related note, they mentioned in the Japan GT-R film that each engine is hand-built and each gearbox is uniquely matched to the engine. How does that work should the gearbox fail? How would it be replaced?

How does that work should the gearbox fail? How would it be replaced? Extremely expensively I would imagine! Another thing: The engines are hand-built. Does that mean if they break the engines will need hand building in Japan again or will the UK dealers have to go for special training in order to keep the warranty that Nissan hold so dear to their hearts? I'd be wanting to find these things out before I put down a deposit.

Kind of a pain for salvage swops.

How does that work should the gearbox fail? How would it be replaced? Replacing the gearbox will need a new Gearbox ECU as well or something like that I should imagine, or just flashing with the new gearbox code. For the numbers of cars that they are producing I also severely doubt that the engines are "hand built" too, but who knows.

See i found that interesting, on TG last week they were explaining how it was handbuilt while showing a video of robots putting the engine together. Kinda threw me. juanchan
Don't the VIN plates state R35 on the new GT-R? I thought it was an R35, just not a Skyline.

I was sure they wanted it to be nothing to do with the Skyline, that was a while ago though, weren't they saying it's a Nissan GT-R and that's it? Matt H
Looks a bit more than a meer shunt.. umm, oh well, at least they filmed the run around the top gear track before that incident

I was sure they wanted it to be nothing to do with the Skyline, that was a while ago though, weren't they saying it's a Nissan GT-R and that's it? Look at it this way. If Nissan don't refer to it as a Skyline, an R35 or anything other than GT-R then it's likely that it's just a GT-R. If the mags aren't calling it anything other than the GT-R then it's just a GT-R. It seems like they are trying to move on but the fanbois will always want a new Skyline. The same will happen with the LF-A or whatever Toyota call their next high performance car. It'll be known as the new Supra by those that just can't move on.
Daston
Well if General motors can hand build their engines I am sure Nissan can. http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=18399 Would be interesting to see Nissan do something simular. Anyway it's actually a Lexus
