So what does everyone think of the New British GP F1 track?

I like Donnigton because of the gradients of the land, it feels more like an old-school UK track to me.

Or Brands, if it was longer. Much more fun to be had with the gradients etc, at Donington. IIRC Silverstone is a bit too flat to be able to see across it for the full experience.

Donington is awesome both to drive and to spectate. Seeing cars coming thrashing down the craner curves beats anything silverstone has to offer.

The full GP circuit adds 2 straights, a chicane and a hairpin, so it's plenty long enough. Top speed can be quite high, but lets face it - it's about corner speed, not straight lines.

Herman Tilke will be involved in updating the track/facilities to F1 standards and if they invest properly and crack on straight away it will be a good venue for the race....certainly no worse than Silverstone.

Silverstone has been it's own enemy, there has been a lot of promises and very little action, little or no investment. FOM (Bernie) wanted Silverstone to rebuild in the mould of the latest venues - state of the art pits etc - but they couldn't secure the funding.

IMO the UK needs a new circuit from a clean sheet design, financed privately, that can be a new "home of motorsport", attracting motorsport companies and investment in business parks around it.

EDIT - and yeah Craner Curves 4TW.

I think it would be so much better for the sport and from a spectator point of view, much nicer circuit to drive and to view from and no doubt the facilities would be better too, been getting sick of Silverstones overpriced charging and nothing in return.

well I suppose the European GP was there in 1993 so hopefully will be good.

With the gradient changes in the wet im sure there would be some good mistakes.

I was at that, great race and it p*ssed it down:)

:yeahthat:

It is a little mental though! Don't know how current F1 cars would cope with the carousells!

Well it was originally built as a test track...

I don't care how they'd cope with it TBH, just that they try :D

Besides, several F1 cars have recently been round there. Nick Heidfeld drove a BMW round there not so long ago but didn't post a good time.
