Much more fun to be had with the gradients etc, at Donington. IIRC Silverstone is a bit too flat to be able to see across it for the full experience. Ark Posted July 4, 2008 Share Posted July 4, 2008 Donington is awesome both to drive and to spectate. Seeing cars coming thrashing down the craner curves beats anything silverstone has to offer. The full GP circuit adds 2 straights, a chicane and a hairpin, so it's plenty long enough. Top speed can be quite high, but lets face it - it's about corner speed, not straight lines. Alex Posted July 4, 2008 Share Posted July 4, 2008 Herman Tilke will be involved in updating the track/facilities to F1 standards and if they invest properly and crack on straight away it will be a good venue for the race....certainly no worse than Silverstone. Silverstone has been it's own enemy, there has been a lot of promises and very little action, little or no investment. FOM (Bernie) wanted Silverstone to rebuild in the mould of the latest venues - state of the art pits etc - but they couldn't secure the funding. IMO the UK needs a new circuit from a clean sheet design, financed privately, that can be a new "home of motorsport", attracting motorsport companies and investment in business parks around it. I don't care how they'd cope with it TBH, just that they try Besides, several F1 cars have recently been round there.
