1) Does the Supra oil oump not have a small drilling from just behind the front crank seal straight into the oil pan? This is quite a common feature on OEM pumps, specifically to relieve pressure behind the seal if you get excess oil leakage into this area from the rotor.

This is the hole that people port out.

Does the Supra oil pump pressure relief valve sense the oil pressure between the rotor output and the filter or does it sense the main block gallery oil pressure directly? Is it the recirculating type or the a nasty "dump to oil pan" one?

Hi, I think It is just a dump to sump type like youve mentioned. And I think it senses only the main gallery oil pressure. But I have to doulbe check.HTH

HKS's kit looks nice!

Also take into fact that as the motors age increaces the wear on the gear tooth rotor does too, thus raises the Load on the FMS even more, from what I have been told from a trusty source.

OK, thanks for that. Any idea how big it is?

Dump to sump is pretty horrible. Shame on Toyota if that's the case ;)

Just as an aside then, I know it's not the main point of this thread, but if the oil pump PRV uses main gallery pressure as a reference as opposed to pre-filter pressure then there's no way that a less-restrictive oil filter can raise oil pressure in the engine as the PRV will dump it back to the stock level. It will reduce the workload on the pump, though, and so help protect the front seal.

Absolutely it will. :D

Your welcome, no worries, looking at it, id say a rough 5mm diameter.

I agree!

Ok, my mistake, looking at it now, it looks like the PRV senses the oil filter gallery as refrence.

The actual PRV hole>sump(behind PRV), is also ported aswell, its looks rather small IMO.

Absolutely it will.
