stevie_b
When changing the cambelt, which of the cambelt peripherals should be changed? Apparently there's a cambelt idler pulley and a tensioner assembly. Which (if any) do people here change?
Swampy442
You might as well change the lot, cos if they fail you'll wreck your engine, and as the belts already off youll have acces
Rob
...is the sensible answer, but I changed mine before 200000km and the pulley and tensioner were in perfect condition.

stevie_b
Thanks for responses so far. I'm after a bit of a consensus (the tensioner & idler pully are by far the most expensive parts), and I don't want to scrimp but don't want to replace parts that are perfectly good either. Given that it's a non-interference engine, the risk of damage from not changing the tensioner/pulley seems small. I'm buying these parts in for someone else to do the work (Graham S on here), so I'll ask him too.

I'm sure I've read that it is, but it's handy knowing for sure!
kylestt
I'm doing mine right now with the head off the car and I'm doing a new tensioner, its like 35GBP and cheap insurance.

Sorry chap, I didn't quite understand the "cheap insurance bit". But a new idler pulley (the bit I think I need to replace) is actually £72 from a main dealer (I phoned up today). Tensioner assembly is £67, but I've heard that they very rarely fail.

Off the top of my head I'm 90% sure it is non-interference, will confirm a bit later..
