how to get more noise from a stock supra

I had a big bad exhaust on my last car, i get sick of the curtain twitchers.

I had a K&N before, that seemed ok. But i guess i dont want to take chances.

If youre going to have an exhaust is it really worth going for just a backbox? The weight in the standard system must be insane considering how quiet it is.

How does fitting the decat pipe affect the turbos?

Do these part suppliers who post here offer discounts to the club members? :D

My shopping list is : Alloys (mine are stock 16" & chipped a lot), exhaust, dump valve..maybe lowering. I can only really afford to do one of those right now. Which would be the best option.

Anyone know of a good import specialist/supra specialist garage around derby area?

Cheers.

My N/A was fitted with a HKS mushroom filter when I bought it. I fit a stock airbox after a few months and the performance difference was VERY noticeable, way more responsive and far better to drive.

Unfortunately, the car is burning all it's oil up in less than 2000 miles and is gonna cost about a grand to get rebuilt. This has been attributed largely to the mushroom filter letting crap into the engine.

Your choice. Personally, I'd stop being a girl and get a proper exhaust rather have a quiet car than a big rebuild bill in a few years.

For £1000 you could probably by 10 decent second hand n/a engines ;)

Quite probably, but I've not seen one come up for sale north of London, let alone north of Birmingham and there just isn't any affordable way of getting them up here. Then you still run the risk of not knowing what they are like and end up with the same (or worse) problems.

I'd rather get my motor completely rebuilt then I know it's all good and will last another 10+ years.

Simple answer - fit a new exhaust, replacing the 2nd cat. your best bet is to get around the various meets, find an exhaust note you like and ask the owner what 'zorst it is.

Have a search around this site for sound clips of exhausts as I'm sure there are a few kicking around.

Not all exhausts are stupidly loud and they should all pass an mot with the 1st cat still in place. I have got through 3 mot's with no cats at all.

Dont bother with an aftermarket filter or induction kit unless you have a good cold air feed otherwise all your sucking in is warm air from the engine bay!

That's why we have intercoolers ;)

If you are realy that bothered bout sucking in warm air then take a look at this thread.
