What Sat Nav ?

Would like some advice on what sat nav to go for. I have been looking at the Navman S90i and the F10. The S90i is £190 iirc and the F10 is around £98.

I have been told that Tom Tom is also good, but know nothing about these to be honest :innocent:

Garmin here. I opted for it over TomTom as they were slightly smaller (in general), supposedly have quicker re-calculation times (i.e. if you miss a turn).

And one of the biggies was they do marine GPS, so if sailors are putting there faith/life in there hands, then getting me somewhere on good old terra firma shouldn't be a problem :)

Really?! TomTom has screwed me over several times both in the UK and Europe but Garmin hasn't put a foot wrong.

I just find Garmin lacks some valuable features that the Tom Tom had and takes forever to find it's satellites.

My Garmin has an FM traffic update thingy, that's neither use nor ornament.

Maybe I have a basic Garmin unit.

I've got the 710 model (I think) and i've had none of those issues. I find the screen and GUI to be spot on and everything is quick to access. The satallites are quick to initialise on my unit.

In my experience selling sat navs, and seeing them come back, I would forget navman. Go for tomtom or garmin, garmin being better.

Thats a good way of looking at it.

I prefer the Tom Tom stuff because I find the GUI's very easy to use, even with others are operating it.

Gaz.
