marc_p Posted February 7, 2008 Share Posted February 7, 2008 Think the best one was with my "chav-tastic" civic, it was parked in ASDA and when I came back out of ASDA there was a plain clothes cop stood next to it and said I wasn't able to drive it. When I asked her why she started rolling off reasons, first off was the front numberplate that was stuck on not bolted on, to which I told her was perfectly legal due to the fact that some car manufacturers do this as standard and it was well adhered in a perfectly legal position. She then said that my tints were to dark, to which I said that I have been stopped and tested twice before and they are perfectly legal. She then said that my angel eyes were illegal due to them being blue, this was until I showed her that they were 'E' marked and hence must be legal for UK roads. She then said that the exhaust was illegal, I asked her on what grounds she could suggest this and she replied with "it's too loud so it must not have a cat on it", with which I replied that it DOES have the cat on it also is made buy a reputable make(5zigen) and is perfectly legal with all silencers still in place. Then she really was clutching at straws for her last reason(which I couldn't even hold a straight face with) as she said that I must have foam wadding on the ends of the spoiler as it has metal edges, to which I replied (laughing) that the spoiler remained inside the width of the car so was perfectly legal also. I then asked her if I was able to leave or if she was going to keep wasting my time to which she replied that she was going to make sure that her and her collegues were going to watch me like a hawk. Then file a formal complaint with the local government. If that doesn't work, start calling the newspapers and magazines. People get fired for garbage like that in some countries. Maybe not in the UK, but it's worth a shot. You ever carry a video camera with you? Cops don't like video cameras. Makes em behave and fear backlash should a nasty video of a police officer misbehaving or abusing their authority get posted on youtube. Just a thought. Regarding child getting into car then engine would cut out when alarm is breached (Clifford remote start).
