miko_supra
i constantly hear about dyno figures from the states being well over the top, and i also see proof of this on their forums and youtube (eg bpu supras making over 400hp at the wheels.) but does anyone know why? Tones
Rated differently no? maybe the fuelling too? maybe the stupid dyno operators?
Gazboy
Dynojet dynometers measure differently to Dyno-Dynamics, Mustang or MAHA, so while their rwhp is hugely different to ours, they claim much lower tranny losses, however some of the claims on suprastore are laughable. SupraHuman
No matter what you think about the yanks they do make a LOT of supra parts and turbo kits so fair play to them.I like them but some of their dyno claims are somewhat questionable sometimes.Go yanks
Kirk
I dunno how they do it but they do it altho I do question some results off such a small upgrade. According to a guy I've spoke to on supraforums, GODSP33D, its down to meth kits at bpu level so maybe that have something to do with it??

mkirby
for some reason all of them seem to be USA BHP BS you take any car over there and the exact spec over here and bear in mind we use 99 ron fuel compared to their 93 ron pump fuel and they always have 50% more bhp i had an argument with a 300zx tuner who claims he had made 1073 RWHP in a 300zx using 720cc injectors
Gazboy
Their Ron ratings are different to Europes- you add 5 points to acheive the same Mon ratings, their fuel is actually better than ours.
Thorin
They lie. HP is HP, torque is torque. CW telling it like it is US BHP @ the wheels ~= UK BHP @ the crank
Jspec Germany
*throws hat in center of table* Captain America to the rescue. I think you all have good reasons to think what you do and most of you are probably correct. That being said, there are some guys in the states making huge power, but how long does it last? I've found (only by reading mind you) that most of the UK tunes tend to be more mild in the interest of preservation and reliability, where the boys stateside tend to be a bit more aggressive. Differences in dynos/operators I think is a little presumptuous unless one of you has had your car dyno'd in both the UK and in the U.S. on more than three dynos each side of the pond with proper controlled variables. Maybe the fuel is better. When does the "their dicks aren't bigger" argument stop? *sits back after tossing match*
Daston
that is true I have seen a dyno vid of a sup hitting 1800 wrhp and that was having big traction problems, thing is it probly needs a new engine after every dyno run
Daston
great example is the old 1.3L turbo F1 cars, they were pumping out 900bhp but were designed to explode just after the finish
