Pete
Indeed it was me that could hold a pint cocktail of spirits It was the best thing you could've done with that lot mate.
Class One
if your over 18 it should be your/our choice when to stoip drinking Unfortunately, the Licensing Act sees it very differently, and the licensing authority will very heavily fine the license holder or his agent if found serving someone who is intoxicated on their premises. The test of drukeness is a objective rather than subjective one and if Pete and co were drunk in the pub then I would understand the manager for refusing to serve them. BUT to hide behind the premise of "assisting others to drink responsibly" is a rather glib excuse if the customer in question was not infact drunk. Write them a letter and take your business elsewhere. Failing that (in true Armstrong and Miller stylee) KILL THEM!
Pete
Burna put it best on the phone this morning, it was more of an eating establishment, they're probably not used to people making an evening of it. We weren't really drunk, certainly nothing like approaching JAE levels.

Isn't it the case that that law has 'always' been in place, but only now is it being enforced?... (Thanks to all the namby pamby rubbish)... Not that I agree with the way the chaps have been treated, as some will know I'm regularly a bit over the sober limit, but what happened sounded excessive... - Could it have been a case of them needing your table for another party?... (Just a thought I had )

(Just a thought I had ) One Licensing Act was replaced with a revised one. Regulation was changed and penalties were made much harsher. Although it introduced 24hr licenses and all that as well. juanchan
fair point, i was judging by my own attitude to drinking. i didnt really consider the people who go out there way to get pissed enough to fall about the place (juanchan) It was drink the bar dry in a student nightclub. Pot
We were in the bar, so it wasn't that. Ah, didn't know that, just guessing really, although whether you were sat at the bar or not shouldn't have been an issue (Before anyone says) hmmm or a visit from the plod... see my earlier post! One Licensing Act was replaced with a revised one. Regulation was changed and penalties were made much harsher. Although it introduced 24hr licenses and all that as well. What's changed then? Burna
This thread cracks me up the more I remember of the night The look on S7eve's poor face when I saw him walking back from the bar, he really didn't want the job of telling us we couldn't have another drink, he was terrified! He knows us too well Pete lol The bar staff weren't very welcoming all day to be honest, it seemed to all start with us wanting to move tables so we could all eat together, they didn't like it even though Linda had booked the numbers for our party. Then after been asked to free up the table and head to the bar (fair enough) they took offence to us moving the chairs in the bar so again we could sit together! I didn't feel welcome there all night. They were just looking for an excuse to get rid of us in the end. Pete and I had certainly had a drink but no where near lashed levels, members who know me would have thought I was just getting started As Pete I had paced myself all day, I even turned down the wine as I know it knocks me about if I'm out all day (thanks for the wine by the way mods, it went down very well with everyone ). When I thought about it on Sunday the only rational thing I can think of for wanting us to leave was that it was mainly an eating pub. There was no one else drinking in the bar area really, just a bloke reading his book, and another couple of chaps having a quiet drink. We must have come as a shock to the delicate young bar staff Now Pete, Julia is very disappointed with you. Her words to me yesterday went something like this. After meeting Pete a couple times she thought you were a very nice, well spoken, well educated, young(ish) respectable business man. Now she knows you are a complete thug who likes to binge drink and smash up pubs! She also thinks that you are a bad influence on me and encourage me to drink and misbehave, also being my elder Pete you should know better Few things that seemed to missed from this thread about the night are as follows. 1. (4:30pm ish) Pete swearing blind that I was older than him because I turned 32 in June and he turned 32 in March?!?! 2. (6pm ish) Julia and I adopting some young lad into our group who was there without any friends having a quiet drink until we kicked him out of his seat, he looked scared 3. (Tipsy pm ish) Pete grabbing some straws from behind the bar and putting them in mine and his pints saying "Drink it through these Burna, it's great!" He was right! 4 (No idea pm ish) Pete being clumsy with a four foot high display vase and plant in the reception and then me being clumsy with the very same pot after Julia had tidied up after Pete, what were the odds on that happening twice! Freaky The next pub I went to had no problem with responsible drinking, they were more than happy to serve me with a large rose and two bottles of beer a time, they could see I was thirsty

You're easily led. 1. (4:30pm ish) Pete swearing blind that I was older than him because I turned 32 in June and he turned 32 in March?!?!
