  1. Hello I've noticed some Sups have these and some don't. I've been told that these weren't available on UK spec supras either. Does anyone have the part nos for the driver & passenger side bits ? Thanks Geoff
  2. Just had the same problem on mine. Got the replacement mast from Toyota, which costs approx £30.94+VAT, part no is T86337-14411. Had to remove the old mast and also take apart the motorised unit to remove the plastic-bit which is usually attached to the aerial as this had snapped off. Was quite straight forward, but removing the plastic part was messy due to the excessive amount of grease they use in the motorise unit. Also plenty of info on aerials if you do a search. Hope this helps. Cheers Geoff
  3. Hi All Well this thread has some good info on how to wire-up a 3rd brake light for UK cars that don't have them. However mine's a J-spec which did have a working light. I finally managed to check the fuse for the 3rd brake light and it seems fine, however I didn't replace it. I still don't have a working 3rd brake light, with none of the LEDs coming on. Any ideas on what else could be wrong. Although the fuse looked fine, I will probably replace anyway. Cheers Geoff
  4. Thanks for all the advise .... I've heard about the scam bankers drafts, amazing ! I suppose the only way to avoid this is to take it to a bank to verify the bankers draft before letting go of the keys ? Cheers Geoff
  5. Hello I have taken the decision to sell the supra in the next month or so. I was wondering how the insurance works for a J-spec for people who want to test drive the car ? Any advice appreciated, Cheers Geoff
  6. I have a 996 (v2 I think) fitted in my supra. I seem to remember you can disable the internal motion sensor, but I haven't got the manual in front of me. I can take a look tonight and reply tomorrow with more info. I don't think the Laserline is the best alarm in the world. Have a few problems with mine, in that sometimes I can't arm/disarm the alarm using the keyfob. I have replaced the battery, but still get problems, so have to use normal keys and the dongle-thingy. I bought my car from JIC, does anybody know where abouts the sensor placed ? Also I don't think they work with a turbo-timer, although I've not tried. Geoff
  7. Hi All This is a really interesting thread ... Anybody recommend any places to get a laser alignment in the South-east close to Gatwick ? Cheers Geoff
  8. This was an M or N plate. I'm sure it was a blonde lady driving with a bloke in the passenger seat. It was on the A217 just past the Black horse pub.
  9. I was in my silver j spec and another soup passed (I think dark grey in colour) on Sat 7th early evening. Lady was driving and flashed her lights, hooted the horn and waved. I did flash my lights. I would have stopped, but was going out that evening and was in a bit of a hurry. Anyone from here ?
  10. Excellent one Nic I think this one shows the part and no. I believe that for cars that don't have an active spoiler the black plastic bit has 5 screws attached to it which is then fastened with bolts underneath. The diagram shows this. For supras fitted with an active spoiler then the black plastic part has 3 wholes and it is fastened with the plastic screws which I'm after, which is part no 90467-09164 and has 3 in brackets. Thanks very much Geoff
  11. Thanks Nic for the diagrams ... but it doesn't contain part I'm after. There is a black bit of plastic above where the active spoiler is and screwed into front nosecone in the big opening at the front. There are 3 screw on mine 2 on either end and one if the middle. I wonder if you have a diagram for this ... Cheers Geoff
  12. Hello I have an active spoiler on my GZ. There are some plastic push-type screws (not sure if that is the correct description) that holds a bit of black plastic above the active spoiler to the body. Anybody know the part no for these ? Cheers Geoff
  13. Thanks for the assistance Jake. I will check the fuse. Do you know if there is a fuse that is just for the 3rd brake light ? Also do you have a URL to some info about the fuse layout for a J-spec ? Geoff
  14. Ok, I'll check the power wires in the hatch. I thought they were just normal bulbs as opposed to LEDS. Does anybody have any ideas as to why it has just stopped working ? Will not having a functioning 3rd brake light fail the MOT ? Cheers Geoff
  15. It's a j-spec. Cheers Geoff
  16. Hi All I don't think my 3rd brake light is working. Can anybody tell me how the 3rd brake light works and how I check/change the bulbs ? Are the power wires in the hatch ? Cheers Geoff
  17. Sorry for the long post, but try some of these: i.e. "ashlee sing" * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
  18. I also have the knocking sound. I have replaced the top and bottom rear hatch rubbers and I still have the knocking. At the last MOT, it picked up a slight leak in the offside rear shock, so I will get the rear shocks changed shortly. Hopefully this will cure the problem once and for all. Cheers Geoff
  19. Hi All Can anyone recommend a good place to get a full wheel alignment for my supra near Gatwick airport ? Cheers Geoff
  20. I work in IT, am an IT Manager. I have a degree in Software Engineering and been working in the industry for approx 9 years ! Somedays I wish I did something else, but I do enjoy the job. There is money to be had in IT, but you have to work for it and as a rule work in the city (London). I don't think salaries in IT are as high as they use to be maybe 4/5 years ago. It would be interesting to know what people think a high salary is ? Geoff
  21. Hey Fiftyplus1 et al I have a 93.5 GZ and wasn't aware that it had a snow mode, I thought that was available on later models ? I was reading the UK manual and I'm sure that it stated that the light comes on, but will not stay on when Traction Control kicks in ? As with Fiftyplus1, on my GZ the trac light comes on and stays on, until I switch it off and back on again. Can anybody clarify ? Geoff
  22. Hi Stock size for a 9" rear is 245-50-16 Geoff
  23. I've also been to see Top Gear, but didn't take my supra. It was really good day and was the one with the Diesel Jag around the Nurburgring and the Morgan Aero 8. Applied for tickets about 2 weeks before and got accepted the 1st time, how cool ! They also had a tea break and we got photos with Clarkson and Hammond, forgot about the other one! I also had a chat with Hammond about his Charger and I use to own a Firebird. Both Clarkson and Hammond were really friendly. Yep Clarkson was the only one allowed to smoke in the studio too. Could have gone to see the one filmed on Valentines day, but was busy and couldn't make it. Will apply again as I and rest of the party really enjoyed the day, and I will take the supra this time ! Geoff
  24. I should have popped in and said hello, but was really tired and hungry ! I knew if I did, I'd get involved. There were some really nice supras too, which I knew I would look at and end up speaking to the owners about them. Maybe next time ?
