TBH I don't know, I'm just thinking back to when my engine blew up and it started with some knocking noises in the engine. I could only hear the tapping when I was applying throttle, the car would stall and I could smell a faint burning smell. But you say your car isn't stalling. Its not going to hurt to get the oil pressure checked by a garage.

Just a question should he check the oil pressure in the engine? [i'm obsessed with oil and engines now in case you haven't realised] Could it be possible that the oil canal is blocked?
