  1. That's fine...but if you think that wastegate mounting is the sign of someone who actually knows what they are talking about then fine. Personally, I think most people would know better by just reading Corky Bells - Turbochargers - book. The pipe should have been about 2" in diameter no 1/2" His mapping skills arn't the issue...as it's obvious it was never mapped! lol If the customer has sought legal advice over what he's posting on a BBS then I think he must have a case. I agree that he seems to have made a complete a**e up of the job and should be sorting it out for free not charging the guy extra. My point is that he's not the cowboy, theiving, idiotic scammer that a lot of people are labeling him as.
  2. OMFG That's terrible I've seen better erotic scenes written on the side of public lavatories
  3. I must say that having dealt with Paul Hills and Engine Advantages several times I'm shocked at reading that, I've nothing but praise for him and the work he's done. People calling him a crook and trying to put him out of business is just plain out of order, we all have problems with companies (I for one refuse to buy anything from Argos because of bad experiences) but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be in business. I have and will continue to trust Paul Hills and Engine Advantages with my cars past present and future. He did a superb job of mapping my Mondeo over a year ago for a very resonable price and it's new owner is still over the moon with it's performance. If anyone doubts Paul's work look through performance ford or fast ford magazines... they're often on the cover *Climbs down off soap box*
  4. Personally I love a nice dark shiny blue (like the mondeo st200) with cream leather interior..... That's why I bought a red soop with black leather
  5. With or without the writing that's a beast
  6. As I've mentioned in another thread, my completely standard J-Spec TT auto is apparantly making 305bhp at the fly, but only 220 at the wheels..... could someone tell me if this is normal? To me that seems like a huge loss. The car seems to go like stink but I'm a bit concerned that I'm missing out on a few BHP because something's knackered. Here's my power graph:
  7. My understanding of dnyo's is that they work out RWHP using the torque figure etc.... then work out flywheel power by calculating how long the rollers stay running for.when they take their foot of the gass.... my thinking is that a nice tight transmission will offer a lot of resistence to the rollers and slow them down quickly, a rubbish transmission will offer very little resistence and they'll keep spinning for ages. Please bear in mind that I just pulled that theory out of my arse Tdraper, my car was dyno'd at Engine Advantages in Witham, on the industrial estate just behind Ford rapid fit (suberb guys btw) p.s., Gordon, my engine was (and is) totally stock when it was dyno'd.... stil had the original 112mph limiter installed, but how accurate the figures are I don't know (somehow made 336lb torque )
  8. Good point..... which reminds me I've still got to replace the two bog standard ugly black plastic valve caps that get stolen off the right hand side of my car nearly EVERY WEEK Seems the theory is: If you don't want it stolen, nail it down:mad:
  9. W****rs! I've been paranoid about checking my nuts (oh-err) ever since it was pointed out to me that "you don't know the last time someone tried to knick your wheels". What a t***er tho...... was this wannabe thief so stupid that he didn't realise the locking nut would be a problem until AFTER he removed the others?
  10. Cool idea! The main reason I asked is because back in my mondeo days there were quite a few cars suffering from a lot of throttle slack meaning they couldn't quite get WOT. Actually on second thought I'll leave it where it is.... my lead feet + sensitive throttle = probably not a good idea.
  11. Ever since I bought my car I've noticed that the gas peddle has about half an inch of travel on it before you hit the point where it actually does something.... under the bonnet I can see that the throttle cable has a similar amount of slack (0.5 - 1 inch). Is this normal or should I check it out?
  12. Mine made 305bhp at the fly (which was slightly less than I was expecting but everything seems to be working fine), and 336lb of torque (which was a lot more than I was expecting). This was at engine advantages. One thing that suprised me were my horrible transmission losses (about 220-230bhp at the wheels ) I know it's an auto but damn!
  13. I got insured for about £1300 by elephant (23, 4 years NCB) on an imported TT. Unfortunately they seem very picky about what mods they would insure and which they wouldn't (wouldn't touch induction kits etc but only charged me £10 for a better exhaust )
  14. Classic..... Ladies please take note.... there's a method to our madness!
  15. Today, Just before the M25 turnoff I think, approaching at warp factor 9 Looked absolutely mean as it steamed off, I flashed my hazards at you and you flashed back. Nice looking car, anyone on here?
  16. wow, another Witham resident enters the fold! And another that knows Engine Advantages... what a cool place, every time I go in there I come out wanting to spend more and more cash!!
  17. Nice looking car, I love red soops My car's still got the original 180kmh Japanese speed limiter, but the alloys and stereo have been changed.
  18. Saw a breif glimpse of a red soop near the train station in Witham Sunday morning about 10am. Can't be any more descriptive I'm afraid Would've waved but; A: was stuck in a side road B: was driving my "if it's still there in the morning it's a bonus" car, Vaux Cav with 1600cc's of raw power! Anyone here? It's the first time in a while I've seen another supra around.
  19. Just got two 15" neon tubes for the footwells I've seen various posts regarding fitting them but I'm going to ask a question anyway I've already got footwell lights in the car (pathetic little green things), can I simply nick the wiring off these and hook up the neon directly? As in expose the bare wires of the existing light and splice them to the +ve -ve of the neon? I seriously doubt it's that easy but I live in hope
  20. Haven't actually bought the stuff yet, but probably looking at mechanical. The only part that really bothers me is taking apart the dash to get to the clock I've had several 'unpleasant' experiences messing about with the interior of past cars :flame Dev But since I never learn I'm lining up the screwdrivers.
  21. Oops, my mistake.... 52mm is right.
  22. Cheers I'll probably get someone else to fit it for me Just wanted to make sure that the gauge kits for sale contained everything I'd need.
