  1. Nice one, I tried the jump lead thing about 20 mins ago... Sorted !! The previously live circuit goes dead when two batteries are parallelled up, but comes live after a few seconds,(longer than before) Which a take to mean that my battery is sapping the donor battery causing the same fault. Thanks loads guys, I thought it was gonna cost a packet. Saved a load of embarrasment too, going to auto electrician Simon, are calcium ones better than normal ones then ? More power or something? Chris
  2. £75!!!! is that how much they cost??? Blimey no beer for me this weekend then!! lol I thought I'd get ghange from 50 quid!! How naive am I?? Does anyone do a 'try before you buy' deal? DREAM ON !?
  3. If a duff battery can cause 'odd' things like that to happen, then I will bite the bullet and buy a new one. I didn't know they did that, I thought they just kind of faded away. I'll try that when I get paid on friday. Thanks for the quick replies, I can sleep tonight... Unless the alarm keeps going off again. Chris
  4. Mine does it too. I just figured it was the prop-shaft taking the strain ready for lift off... But what do I know? F-all ! Chris
  5. Further to my previous post about the stereo coming on all by itself, I still need help. I've taken all the dash off and nothing seems to have rubbed through. Ive taken the stereo out and it's not that drawing power. I've disconnected the t-timer but there is still something taking power with nothing switched on. The battery voltage goes from 14.5v when charging with the engine running, to below 10v after about 15 mins with it switched off. I know the average car battery voltage varies a lot, but mine is flat after a day or so. I was up at 2 o'clock this morning jump starting it, because the battery was so low it was making the alarm beep at full volume alerting of lack of power. I know the first thing you are all going to suggest is to replace the battery, but the whole point of my question is, why are ignition live circuits becoming live, with no ignition?? I appologise if my description is not very clear, I will give more details after further investigation. Any advice greatly appreciated Chris
  6. I've got exactly the same as you, and the poeple who fitted the alarm said 'it's impossible, and anyway why would you want to walk away from the car with it running?' But they were tossers, and if your guy can do it I would like know how so I can do the same. Chris
  7. It may be a and you probably all already know about this, but check out http://www.aapetrolbusters.com Might save you a few quid!! Chris
  8. Chase - The stereo has not got a remote control, and also it should be dead when the ignition is off so I don't know. Maybe a bad connection Lovatt - I have not got remote start so that's not playing up, altough the alarm has got it as an optional extra. Is all the circuitry in place ready for it? tt - Yeah I've seen it, that i one messed up car! ''Show me'' haha I've just jump started it and been for a drive to charge up the battery, on turning into to my street - at about 15mph - I picked 2nd gear instead of 3rd (on a wet road, DICK HEAD) put far too much power down and ended up facing the wrong way, having mounted the curb and parking on a neighbours lawn - Asshole!! Anyway I've found it seems to be just the stereo and cicar lghter that come live, and I just can't turn them off. I'll have to take the dash off to see if any wiring has rubbed through. Damn annoying though.
  9. If it's the same alarm as mine, then there is a little box for each group of sensors (I've got optional tilt, knock and proximity). On my car they are all under the centre console, under the armrest. They have all got sensitivity adjustment screws. It took me weeks to get it set up how I wanted it, cos it used to go off if you farted within 10 metres of it. Chris
  10. I know what you mean, its really sensitive and always going off, I got used to that. I'ts the stereo coming on thats bugging me. Do you think the alarm could do that?? Maybe the immobiliser is backfeeding the ignition circuit. Is that possible? I wouldn't put it past it, it's been a crap alarm from day 1. Chris
  11. I urgently need advice on this one,! Last night my alarm (Toad Ai606) started screaming away to itself at about 10 to midnight, oh yeah the neighbours are well chuffed. So when I go down to see what caused it, I hear a banging bassline, coming from inside the car. WTF??? My stereo had come on all by itself, (bearing in mind it only comes on with the ignition) So I think maybe the battery is on its way out and the power is low causing strange behaviour, so I start the car. Fired up on first turn as usual..Hmm not that then. After turning the car off, everything dies as usual and goes quiet. Sorted. I reset the alarm and go back inside woundering what the hell could have caused it. Get up this morning looking forward to treating her to a fulll wash and wax etc.... the alarm won't disable, Great. I look inside and see the stereo has the front screen down in play mode. It's happened again So now I have my car on the drive with a flat as f*** battery and no alarm. (although the siren has a battery back-up, it just beeps instead of wails, probably flat too) So my question is has this happened to anyone else, or is my car posessed?? The only thing I can realistically blame is the turbo timer, as this is the only thing which controls the ignition other than the key. Any ideas folks? Chris
  12. Bad show mate sorry to see that, aren't you glad we pay so much fapping road tax to maintain the streets?! Chris
  13. When I went to buy 100w bulbs for mine, the guy fed me some BS about not being suitable for plastic lenses, 'cos they'll melt the housing and the wiring loom'. Is it safe to say this is tosh?? Plus he wanted about 16 quid a bulb, err no thanks. Chris
  14. Wiring looms part no. T81515-14390 £11.95 each + VAT Both sides are the same so buy a pair. You will still need the chop one end off because - suprise suprise - the plugs on the car are different to the looms, but you get the correct bulb holders so bodging or butchering. Hope this helps. Chris
  15. Hi Lee, Without a doubt go for the HKS SSQV. It sounds great and like Clarkey_Sparkey pointed out, they dont leak under boost. Mine was £245 delivered, but I'm sure I was stung. Good luck with the supe. Chris
  16. merckx, I've got the HKS SSQV and a Blitz SUS filter fitted, and I think it sounds ace. I fitted the BOV after about 3 weeks owning the supe, and 7 months on it still makes me smile when you change gear next to pedestrians and make them jump. It makes different noises at different levels of boost too, on full boost dump, it gives an aggressive high pitched surge of air, but at low boost it a more sedate pssch. Some times it gives a psh psh psh psh noise - like a quiet external wastegate - which sounds cool. I would never have the car without it, obviously just my opinion so dont all:flame Dev me at once. Chris
  17. See if I've done this right..... http://www.the-trades.com/hprice/Batman612.jpg If this works I would like to see someone slipping on a banana skin
  18. I used to think I was getting about 10mpg when I first got my J-spec, but I thought the odometer was still reading in KMs. When I found out it gets converted to miles after import I felt much Happier with about 17mpg. Although once on a 300 mile motorway run with no boost at all, I got 34mpg
  19. When I changed mine, I did the bottom ones using the hacksaw method. As long as you are dead careful you should sort it. The part no. I used was T67293-14051 = £4.18 + VAT each But then you need some new screws cos you've knackered the old ones, and I didn't get any with above part no. I THINK they are about 5mm. Someone correct me?? Chris
  20. This is what I used http://www.mkiv.com/main/index.html
  21. Thats true. It was only for a second though, maybe it would have cut out if it was there any longer. I didn't have chance to look at my analogue guage, but the peak reading on the Blitz digital was 1.45. Maybe its reading a bit high? I dont know, and I'm not planning on doing it again to find out. Cos like whitesupraboy2 says, turbos or not, the carpet WILL be going down:conf:
  22. Mate it was like my arse was on fire, it about gave me whiplash. Just glad I can laugh about it now. Doesn't bare thinking about telling the girlfriend we cant afford the new carpet cos I've smoked my turbos pissing about
