I'd definitely recommend the Canon EOS 400D, or if you have the money go for the EOS 40D stunning bit of kit, and quite sizeable compaired to the 400D
  2. It could've been worse, I am surprised how much damage was caused by hitting the curb, I wasnt expecting the wishbone to bend back like it did. I've been told that it is apparently its part of the crumple zone. I was probably doing no more than 20mph, might even been slower than that, it all happened at very low speeds, which is why I was getting frustrated with the van driver.
  3. I had an accident earlier in the Astra I tried to overtake some idiot who was crawling very slowly around an industrial estate. It seemed like he didnt have a clue where he was going, but I did wonder at the time whether he was trying to provoke me! As I was about to overtake indicated and decided to turn right, so I had to avoid him by attempting to do a u-turn otherwise I would've gone into the back of him, while doing the u turn I've hit the curb badly on the passenger side!.. whoever was in the van changed his mind and buggered off.. Checked over the car, and the passenger side front wheel has been pushed back into the wheel arch, obviously bending the wishbone, and the alloy is in such a mess it will probably need replacing as well! the AA dont cover for accidents so i had to arrange transportation myself and its now waiting at a vauxhall dealership, I am guessing its going to be at least an 800 quid jobby.

Who's gonna be first to loose their car keys
  15. Aren't snow chains illegal in the UK? Either way I am with Scoboblio with his theory.
  16. This looks like a Bugel to me (clicky link)
  17. I thought thats what would happen, I swear the guy gave me the thumbs up as i drove past him!
  18. I thought these hand held laser guns now have a digital camera onboard to capture the registration plate? Either way, I should've known better as it is a road I use every day.
  19. Bugger, I am almost certain that A copper with a laser gun pointing at me driving downhill caught me doing 45 in a 30. I could quite have possibly been doing 50 my mind was elsewhere wanting to get home. To be honest I am not quiet sure what the actual speed limit is of this road, but I think all roads are 30mph unless otherwise stated. This particular road isnt in a built up area and has no street lighting so I've no idea if that makes a difference or not. Ah well, I will have to take whatever I get coming to me! I am 32 and never had points on my license before!
  20. got an astra cdti 150bhp and that can do over 600 miles on a full tank (motorway miles) but travelling to work i get 30mpg being a hilly route
  21. I was considering putting a 3am fuse off the spur as suggested by the instructions it came with. I was also considering to even convert the suggested radial spurred lighting curcuit into a ring main, and putting a fused FCD before each transformer. but thought that was OTT
  22. But I bought 100 meters of 2.5mm (red & black) twin and earth back in 2003 2 years before the regs came in place
  23. I've got several meters of old 2.5mm twin and earth bought before the regs took place I am pretty much on the ball when it comes to wiring, but never taken a spur off a ring main to make a switched circuit. So trying to find out whether this is the done thing to do under the circumstances living on a singe floor flat.
  24. no rules saying you cant do the work yourself, just needs to be checked and approved by a qualified engineer.
  25. I have bought some Low voltage kitchen lighting, for upper cabinet and under cabinet lighting controlled by two low voltage dimmer switches. Normally I would extend the existing lighting ring main circuit, but here's the problem, I live on a one floor flat, so I am unable to rip the neighbours floorboards up! The easiest option would be to take a spur from the main ring main and create a small spurred lighting circuit using 2.5mm twin and earth cable. see attached image... I am hoping someone on here could tell me if this be a sensible safe approach?
