  1. I worked in Arizona&Utah in 1993. Travelled loads after the job finished - hitching, greyhound & Amtrak. Drove the Las Vegas,LA, San Fran, Reno, Salt Lake, Flagstaff, Vegas circle. Spent separate spells in Denver, Chicago & New York. In San Bernardino,LA was walking along the street, turned corner and there was a car show in the streets - muscle cars, hot rods, dragsters quality! All of it a great experience. Would still like to visit Oregon & Washington state, then the New England states - though never given a monkeys about going to Florida

p.s. forgot to say drivers of landrovers (espec. older landies) are friendlier on the road than the BMW/Mitsu/Merc lot - maybe even as friendly as supra lot

I subscribe to LRO as one of my other toys is a D-reg Defender 90 - 18 years old and only done 54000 miles! excellent nick - am sure I would get £4k plus even now. couldn't say that about many other d-reg vehicles and there's still easily at least 10/15 years in it yet! Not had any reliability probs and being basic it is a doddle to work on - things are just heavier. just needs a 'different driving technique' as no power steering and be more patient/relaxed with the gearbox. Hardly any electrical gubbins to go wrong. regarding McCanny's comment about slow - mine isn't half slow but thats fine for just tootling about. Though from the perspective of being on my bike or car, I'm sure I would annoy myself following me in the landy when taking it off-road getting filthy and driving over things it gives me a smile that my other toys don't. but bear in mind if you want creature comforts it has to be a discovery or range rover classic. get mega miles from the TDI engines if looked after, heared lots of quotes of 200K plus
  5. downhill on Netherton Lane I heard it ... then I saw this tasty looking motor flashing past!
  6. seen a white in the Dam Inn car park at Newmillerdam and in the car wash over the road from Kingfisher chippy at Calder Grove

  11. last night - sure I might have spotted you before some where I live about 1/2 mile from the Bingley Arms - other side of the river, top of the hill
  12. I'm not jealous ............... chuffin jammy bugger!
  13. the site centres around a cinder/speedway track with a big grass area in the middle with a large grandstand - this is circled by a 3to4 foot solid fence. beyond this lots of grass areas Numerous permanent 'facilities' rather than just portas', and plenty of hard standing areas. plus I've been top various access/exit gates closely controlled/manned for security
  14. original audi quattro 50's split rear window Vette
  15. you come on here shouting your gob off and beating others to say the same things they want to say I'll have to say ropey motors & iffy lads
  16. I don't get a takeway but usually have cheese on toast with plenty of tabasco sauce. Fire-ey gob = no good night kiss from Liz !
  17. 2 years ago a driving instrucutor knocked me off the ZX6 - I had broken collarbone, ribs, sprained wrist/thumb, bruised hip, concussion - off work for 6 weeks. Knackered ny Arai Quantum F 'Haga blue replica' & my black visor (it ripped the visor off & wore throught the outer shell, scary thought that your face is couple of inches from the road surface) - my fave helmet ever ever ever - gutted!!! bloke lived about 3 miles but his daughter lives 4 house away. anyway, initially his solicitor made me 'one-third liable - him two-thirds liable'. 'We'll go to court then' I said. It took 4 of thieir offers before they conceded liability. Total incl bike repair/earnings/injury £9900. Because I was taking him to court each time an offer was made the money was put int he court's account. Have accepted but its not his solicitor that is playing silly buggers paying up, its the Court!
  18. bloody showoff - why can't you just go to the seaside & play on the beach and have some fish&chips & ice cream like anyone else??? wonder if Val & Sete will have a scrap behind the bike sheds
  19. Sure it is just the disc & a form from the p/office (don't know no. sorry)
  20. I'm on the bike sat at a roundabout waiting for a gap ... wallop I'm pushed forward & to the left. I get up and rush onto the grass verge - bike is on the floor in the middle of the road. My shin hurts & the silly sod gets out of his car and says ' I didn't see you ,I looked right saw it was clear and pulled out without looking ahead .... they are hard to see motorbikes' Ok he admitted it is his fault, but what narks me is that had a bluetooth phone ear piece on - I bet he busy yapping on rather than looking where he wasgoing. Bike damage is a broken clutch lever, broken indicator, dent in exhaust - will have a closer look at home and then ring him tonight. Good job its the old bike!
  21. my ZX6 is green so yuk off! Liz has got a Pug 405 turbo diesel - woooo! plus i've got mountain bike which is good for 38 mph (downhill) and a racing bike which is good for 42 mph (downhill) - though you can't look at the clock for too long bit scarey heehee
  22. Conservative! its as simple as my beliefs are opposed by Labour and I don't trust them, though I do understand when people say they are not sure the Conservatives will do better.
