  1. Is anyone actually bringing a supra? We need to get this in supra chat and get some mire numbers from the tt and na crowd.
  2. Ahhh get ya really am gutted for you, if mine does the same after all this effort I'm buying a v8!!!
  3. So two days off so far and mostly back together, so all that's left to do now is finish fitting the hot side oil drain and feed, once I've clocked the turbo. Fit spark plugs and intake top back on, intercooler pipes, new fluids all round (thanks to opie oils) Oh and then oil temp gauge and water meth fitting. Hopefully I should get most of the remaining jobs done tomorrow. Some pics as we all like pics. I also fitted my lightweight pulleys all except the alternator pulley which I could not get off for love nor money, I tried the ring spanner and wrench on the little nut but still could not get it to move so I'm going to wait and maybe use the starter to crack it off. Also I wrapped the turbo in bubble wrap but it was uber tight and still managed to catch the edge causing a little bit of damage to the powdercoating on the compressor, will egt that touched up later.
  4. Dude, sorry to hear this especially after all that work . Seems strange that it just gave up !? Especially for a supra engine. Hope you find the culprit!!
  5. Have used it in everything. Thanks again fingers crossed I can get the cams and hot side back together tomorrow.
  6. Thanks lee . I chased out the threads first to ensure dirt free it just seemed odd to not tighten then more than finger tight. Yup found that out, I removed the studs with the head still fitted installed the washer then reinstalled the stud
  7. Anyone? Would like to get this done tomorrow. Can't find any info on the studs themselves
  8. In thd middle of fitting the arp studs and nuts for the cylinder head. The instructions say to install the head studs finger tight. It then talks of fitting the head back on and then putting the nuts on etc and torquing them to a value. My question is do you ever tighten the studs more than just finger tight as it's not mentioned in the instructions? Obviously the head will be pulled down by torquing the bolts but the studs just bring hand tight seems strange. Thdnks
  9. http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?326366-DIY-Turbo-Heat-Shield-write-up-with-pics. Not sure if it would clear the na intake/ pipes but nice and budget
  10. As above, the second previous owner on mine decided to super glue a red plastic filter to the outside to do the same.
  11. If it's a t61 should be fine without heat protection mine didn't melt anything
  12. Looks good scott!! Yea your first pic looked too angled if it's like rich's that will be fine, I only managed to get mine vertical using a fitting from a cosworth which has a very peculiar bend. Looking forward to seeing this at the rr day
  13. Sorry if I have missed this but what oil are you advising for v161/160 gearboxes? I'm in the middle of ordering but can't find any recommended oil for my gearbox. Thanks Sorted, ATF fluid required so I got Titan ATF 4400
  14. I'm currently putting parts together for a turbo itb, they are a very good price, the gsxr 1000 itbs were 500. Problem is management for the puppies no chance with a piggy so standalone only which makes it quite costly for no real benefit but they sound ace!!

Shiny!! Painted mine Matt the other day. Looks like a cracking project. How's your gearbox going to handle 600bhp?
  16. Sounds like a good change. Come on, just some dirty pics and we can check her out.
  17. It's just a baby powdercoating machine, google electrostaticmagic.co.uk they do kits and powders. You will need a low power compressor just 1 bar and a suitable heat source for curing it, the part needs to reach 180 degrees for 15 mins to cure. I use a conventional oven I got on gumtree. Mixed results so far but I can say the car is entirely my own work so far.
  18. Right, cylinder head cleaned down and rebuilt ready to be refitted to the car. That's it now it's onwards and upwards I can't take anything more out so it's all going back in. I'm fitting arp head studs and bolts plus the tt head gasket. Some pics from today, I went a little mad with my little diy powdercoating machine, it's not perfect but it's getting there, they rant the best pics they just look blue when I fact the colour is cobalt which is almost a petrol like reflection to it. Fingers crossed another few days of work some minor tweaks and she will be ready for mot and dyno time Expect more pics over the next few days as I rebuild her

Looks ace fosta you just running the nitrous for intercooler cooling or some sort of injection too?
  20. I might take offence if he does that to us again
  21. Annoyingly I can't find the thread that talked about how much torques/bhp can be handled by the various comp clutches. All I can remember is that the stage four was mentioned as it took over 650bhp with no issues.though it was a little juddery on slipping. Sorry I can't be of much help I'm pretty sure it was either whifbitz or Chris Wilson who had experience with them, might be worth a pm.
  22. Speak with whifbitz I think they have some experience with them, what box is this on?
