Hi all, One of the moving bolts on my front passenger side caliper carrier seized and then snapped when we tried to get it out. As a result I desperately need a new carrier! http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs120.snc4/36351_405165506895_515211895_4498973_3818320_n.jpg Will pay decent money for a quick purchase. Also willing to purchase full caliper if necessary.

I drive past your car every day in my Supra. I work at Beacon Hill
-
Yeah it definitely sounds like it's blowing. I think the blowing is the reason behind the raspy exhaust note.
-
Just to add, the rattle is pretty bloody quiet. I can only hear it with windows both open or door open, but it's definitely there and very metallic-sounding. Cheers Gaz.
-
My exhaust note has suddenly changed over the past couple of weeks. What was once a smooth, deep note has changed to a raspy, tin-can kind of noise with a bit of a rattle at certain revs. It's a '94 NA Automatic with HKS Silent system on it. If I put it in neutral and rev, it gets really raspy before 2k, then raspy again at 3k and just before it hits 2k there's a metallic rattling coming from the middle of the car. When I rev hard, it's noisier from the middle of the car than the rear and very raspy. Might be my imagination but it also seems like I'm down on power and up on fuel consumption, struggling for 230miles/tank at the mo. It was never much better but I can't remember getting

Cheers bud, I wanted one in black really so I'm quite jealous of yours

Well to be honest mate I can't really think of any games that require 1Gb+ graphics memory anyway? Maybe in a couple of years time.. Sounds like a quality laptop though
-
http://www.nvidia.com/page/turbocache.html I wonder if it's something to do with that. I read the 9600M 1gb can have up to 2303mb TurboCache. Presumably that means the GPU can use the TurboCache technology to draw on system memory when needed. For instance if you were playing a graphics-intensive game, the technology might take 1gb of your system memory in order to boost its graphics capability. If that's the case, because it's dynamic, I doubt you'll be able to change it manually - I would imagine the technology will decide when and where it needs the additional graphics memory. I would also imagine that unless you're playing a specifically graphics intensive game or application it won't draw any additional usage from your system's installed RAM.

I've never heard of a 9600M using laptop RAM - as you say they have onboard memory. Let me do a bit of investigating and I'll get back to you

Really? IME it can go both ways. I remember passing my test at 17 and doing handbrake turns late at night in a huge Asda carpark - me in my awesome Citroen AX and my mate in his 206. Probably 1am or so while Asda was shut. Cleaners called the police, single policeman turned up and said he was much happier that we were pratting about off the roads but asked if we could move on. Fine, that's grand, I appreciated that kind of attitude. On the other hand when I was driving my first modified car at the age of 19 I had no less than 7 producers in the period I was driving it. Not once did I get any points, not once did any of the policemen involved actually have anything to say about my driving or the state of my car, they just pulled me over and gave me some bs about the car looking like it might've been stolen, then gave me a producer. During this time I encountered a number of policemen that were rude straight off the bat and for entirely no reason. I'm a polite person, I don't lose my temper easily and I'm usually very respectful.. but it's kinda difficult to keep your cool when their opening sentence is "right, for a start, don't open your mouth or I'm gonna get the drug dogs down to check your car out". Had they done that to me now I would've taken their number and filed a formal complaint but at the time it just scared/frustrated me. That annoyed me immensely and I lost a huge amount of respect for the police then. I was never pulled for speeding - I still have zero points and crashes on my license 5 years later. All depends on the area and the individual policemen I guess. Coincidentally I was never pulled over by a traffic cop, it was always the standard policemen in their panda cars.

Sorry for the sly bump.. I've read Si's guide to cleaning the headlights and it seems like a bit of faff on. Easier just to fit UK specs?

I'm not sure you can call anyone else childish after the "say it to my face?" comments wolfking

To be fair, it's not really banter... I'm not a fan of the guy's car either but the first page on this thread was literally just a massive slating. As with a couple of others, I can understand his frustration at the OTT insults some have thrown about, but on the other hand if he'd had a look at the forum for 5 minutes he probably would've realised that the look/styling of his car wouldn't get the best of receptions..

It sounds like your motherboard is FUBAR, not the RAM. PC3200 will only work if the motherboard supports RAM up to that speed. Some boards will allow the RAM to work, but only at its max rated speed (2700 or whatever) but some will just outright refuse to boot up with it in. Saying that though, again, I'm fairly sure it's your board. If you have £250 or so I'd highly recommend rebuilding your PC - RAM, boards and PSUs are cheap as chips these days, it tends to be just the CPUs which cost a bit of a wedge. £150 will get you a decent spec if you look around; eBay or even forums like this often sell second hand PCs for cheap. I'm fairly sure anything you would buy for £100+ would be better than your DDR PC2700 oriented system.

I only just met you and the car a couple of days before this.. genuinely gutted for you m8 I wrote off my pride and joy (not a Supra.. ) when I was 19 and I could've cried, literally. It's silly to get so attached to a non-humanoid object but heyho, we do. Hope you're back in another ASAP!

Trott and Strauss in particular. They held it together hardcore when it could've gone baaaadly wrong.
-
Woooooooooooooooooooooot \o/ Superb effort! Haddin should never have gone for that shot off Swann, ridiculous idea.
-
Ponting is the decisive wicket imo. If he'd been allowed to get 100 we would've been under huge pressure - well bloody played Freddie! Just a case of "cleaning up" now, I hope. Swann is bowling superbly but not getting much luck.. as Warne said in his commentary, his rewards will come for sure.
-
Why Harmison even started I have no idea. He's just gash. Occasional good ball but so many sloppy deliveries. If they let Katich and Watson dig in, with the strength that Australia have at #3, #4 and #5, they'll happily make the *mere* ~470 they need to win. Need an early wicket tomorrow. Swann needs to deliver for sure.

If you're not sure how to use Torrents, don't bother with Pirate Bay It's also not strictly legal to download programs you're meant to pay for Your laptop has a 1.8ghz Turion chip, the game requires a 2ghz. That's a bit misleading though as the Turion chips are dual core, meaning you effectively have two processors - not quite the 3.6ghz it would seem, but significantly better than a 2ghz single core chip. Flight sims are usually relatively RAM-hungry but your laptop has double the recommended spec. Similarly your graphics card should have more than 128mb RAM so I'm fairly sure it'll play well enough.

Over 450 ahead at teatime day 2! What a result! I really hope Trott gets his 100, nobody deserves it more. Swann seems to be enjoying himself too.. 350 ahead would've been difficult for the Aussies, the strip is destroyed and Swann is a more competent spinner than anything the Aussies can offer.. but 450 and rising? They're going to need a *massive* innings to retain the Ashes now.

Hugely enjoyable day watching England bowl. Not surprised Johnson got Bell out before day end though, he looked literally shit-scared of him before lunch on the first day with constant chest height balls and a total inability to deal with them! Strauss is still in and Trott is eager to prove his worth, plus Prior, Broad and Flintoff still to come.. if we can hold off the initial onslaught for a while tomorrow morning we'll be just fine.
