Thanks Jamesy, that's the one that was mentioned. K>

I was told the name of someone in Fleet that comes highly recommended but senility set in and I can't remember who it was. Can anyone remind me or suggest someone that can be trusted to work on the car. I don't have the facilities to any more than basic maintenance so I'll have to use the plastic toolkit provided by Mr Mastercard. TIA K.

Unfortunately, we won't be able to make it this year, it's a bit far from the south of France, but I wish you well. One piece of constructive criticism, the images on the website look like they were taken with a first generation cameraphone after the lens had been handled by a toddler with sweet coated fingers. As you have a gallery linked from the first page, I'd advise you to put up better quality pics for people to view. HTH K.

It was good to meet peeps, I'm glad you introduced yourself Kayla as Wossisname didn't ;o) Good also to meet you Darryl (is that right? Apologies if not). I'll resize the pics and get them up ASAP K.

I saw this one about 6 weeks ago when I went to look at a red Aerotop they had. Superficially it looks very nice indeed but if it's anything like the red one, it's over-priced. This could be why it's still not been sold. K.

The doors from that were on ebay yesterday (I don't know if they still are) K.

Mine's a silver Aerotop, standard apart from the wheels. L***HAA. Hopefully see you there. K.

I had planned to take my camera anyway so there's no problem with snaps. On the subject of pics, what's the preferred method of posting? Direct on the board or use a hosting service? I won't be posting the full size pics (21MP) but something around the 600x400 area. K.

As with most things in the automotive industry, fashion is king. There are a _lot_ of people out there that know nothing and will blindly follow whatever Top Gear, Max Power or other media say. On the other hand, a larger disc does have other advantages as well as the slightly better cooling. Basic physics dictates that the greater the length of a lever, the smaller the force needed to operate it. The disc effectively provides a lever for the braking force to act through so a larger one requires less force. This is, of course, theory so may not be so apparent in real life. And no, before anyone asks, I'm not going to find and post the formulae/proofs ;o) k.

Oh well I'll be popping over tonight but won't get home 'til 7 so will be there about half-past. K.

No-one going to be there this evening?

Thanks AJI, that was the information I was after. I know how the different types of caliper work and also that bigger discs are generally an improvement over small but I don't have the specific knowledge/experience of Supra brakes. I'm assuming that the set I linked to are not particularly good as no-one has commented on them. My main concern is that the discs that are fitted (I believe they're Toyota) have warped. I had a similar issue with the OEM discs on my MX6 and I'd like to ensure that I at least get a full life out of the next set. Improved braking performance would be a bonus. Other forums (for different cars) have advised that Mintex pads are pretty good (for normal road use) so I am interested in this forum's opinion. Although I'm going to get some from Chris Wilson as they seem to be the pads of choice. K.

I've contacted my local Toyota dealer who tell me the discs are probably between £65 and £85 +VAT each and won't give me a price or lead time until I give them a frame number (which I don't have to hand). Anyone got any ideas on a source for Toyota discs or recommendations for alternatives. Anyone like to comment on the ones linked to in my original post. Thanks again K.

for sale Would anyone be interested in a set of Chris Wilson brake pads?

Is this a pair or two pairs? -
Thanks for the quick reply, where's the best place to get these from? Are the stock discs really better than drilled and/or slotted ones (eg Brembos)? K.

I've read the other threads regarding replacement brakes but I'm still no wiser. I know cheap brakes are a stupid move but there's no indication as to what is considerded cheap. One poster decided agains cheap ones and went for Mintex pads. The rerason I'm asking is that I need to replace the discs on mine as there's a noticable judder under medium braking which I believe indicates warped discs. I've found these on Ebay so I'd like the panel's view. Are they any good? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUPRA-Drilled-Grooved-Brake-Discs-Front-Rear-Pads_W0QQitemZ300320581856QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item45ec8068e0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 If not, what are the recomendations. The car has std J-spec brakes and upgrading to UK spec is on the to-do list but isn't an option at the moment. aTdHvAaNnKcSe K.

Since it's the third Tuesday of the month, I'm guessing there's a meet on in the Comet car park by Madjaski Stadium in Reading. Anyone planning on being there? Just off the ring road at junction 11 M4. Postcode for your sat nav is RG2 0QG. Spose I should get the car cleaned then :o) K

Sorry to ressurrect an old thread but I'm having similar problems with my central locking. It/'s never worked on the remote fob at all but that's possibly a battery issue. The key will unlock each door or the boot but won't centrally unlock. It will, however, centrally lock. I've recently had a Clifford alarm fitted and the fob will lock both doors and boot but won't unlock anything. The alarm fitter tested all the motors and they work fine, both locking and unlocking. He has suggested that the central locking control module is faulty. I seem to recall reading somewhere about resetting the central locking module but try as I might, I can't find it again and don't know what's involved. I suspect that may be down to a faulty memory (Old age ya know). Can anyone advise me where the module is located and whether it can be reset? TIA K.

Spooky! Mine is also L***HAA but it's an almost bog standard silver Aero. Only change is the wheels. It even has a std Toyota exhaust system. K.

I'm thinking this would be a good time to meet some club members so might pop over, is there any ticket cost? I'll not take up a booked space as I'm not positive I can attend (we're driving to the South of France on Sat 25th) but I'll try and get over. K. -
Is there one of these tomorrow? I seem to recall it used to be a monthly event (if that's not tool strong a word for it) K

PS. I carried the skinny (7" I believe), 16" originals back from the tyre-fitters in the same way with even less of a problem
