Huh? Who said anything about falling ill? It was smelling of shisha that is the problem. Why do people always talk of passive smoking being more harmful then actually smoking? What on earth? Do you not think that the person smoking is also breathing it in after?? It's common sense really.

Well I've read many many pages of text research saying it is not, and that is my opinion also. However if the pipe is not cleaned prior, or setup properly or has too much charcoal then i'm sure it can be very harmful...

Jake I'm sure they're smart enough to know that working in a shisha bar could lead to them smelling of shisha; which can often smell very nice...

Why did you pick this bar if you didn't want to be surrounded in smoke? Any other person would have noticed the octopus and been on their way. No they cannot!! Thats the point! All smoking, regardless is BANNED. And do you really mean to tell me that people actually go to the pub just to eat? C'mon. Do they now? And how long does a cigerette last; 5 mins?? An average sized shisha bowl can last over an hour... not really the same thing is it as popping out for a 'quick cig'?

Thanks for that. I too appologise for saying those things... I just get this sort of thing all the time, and in most cases it is mischevious individuals that just want a fight (or argument). "I cannot be doing with a ban for some and not others regardless of race or cult following." I would have agreed with this if people carried little hookah pipes with them and smoked them in resturants, pubs, bars etc.. but as shisha smoking is EXCLUSIVELY done in shisha bars then that argument isn't valid for me. You know?

Well see this is a more complicated issue. I am told that the costs endured due to lung cancer on the NHS and private medical healthcare over-rides the revenue from tobacco tax. I could be wrong about this though. If this is so, then if you think about it, smoking cigs is very addictive so anyone can see that people will remain buying cigs and they can cut some costs on the NHS. So it could be the optimum solution for them!

Not arguing mate... but just saying that if the government really wanted healthier britain the binge drinking should definately be at the top of their list also!

Absolutely Darren. Smoking hookah pipe is one of the oldest traditions. It was popularised in the wizard of oz. Shisha (which is the flavoured tobacco stuff) is a more recent invention. But the hookah pipes and smoking tobacco from it is thousands of years old.... And I agree with you about the incense etc... double standards eh?

Living healthy you say? Do you know the effects that alcahol has on your liver? Do you know that britain is internationally known for binge drinking? It's practically the capital of the world for this shit... What has the government done about this? The reason is simple; taxes!

ABSOLUTELY CORRECT! Can people stop arguing and see this issue with a more open mind. If you dont smoke shisha then it wont affect you... if there is ever public drinking ban, i'm certain that that same people here will start another thread with a slightly more sympathetic view!

Thats a little extreme. A well setup pipe with herbal tobacco and mild charcoal quantity is fine imo.

If I were to explain to you the actual rulings in islam, the supra server would probably go down! lol. But put it this way; if muslims wanted to live as true muslims in this country then they would have to move abroad. It's simply NOT possible. So yes, they are breaking their own rules, but the same can be said for christians. Your devout muslims dont smoke or drink, etc... Oh another misconception is that the majority of shisha smokers are muslim; not so anymore... It's pretty big with all students nowadays here in the UK.

Shisha smoke is NOT as harmful as your cigerette in most cases as the water in the bowl filters out alot of the harmful chemicals like tar, etc.. Contrary to popular misconception. If you smoke the herbal stuff, that has no tobacco in it whatsoever. Yes we know it's not gonna make you live another 100 years, but it's NOT the same as smoking cigerettes; nor are its effects.

Oh and CJ can I just clarify something. Smoking shisha has nothing to do with islam, it's a cultural activity. Islamically it's actually forbidden by the majority of scholars.

Can I just say... I am in a position to speak on this topic as I run a shisha business.. very prominant one. Luckily the ban didn't affect our business too much... but we lost much of our trade orders. Anyway, more to the point; the ban is an absolute joke! It's absurd to think that the government can just take the british peoples freedom away under their noses, coupled with shitty traffic laws, and everything else; this country is rapidly becoming uninhabitable. Now I'm NOT a smoker before you ask... Would you regularly visit a pub if you do not drink? THE ANSWER IS NO! So why the F--- should people visit a shisha bar if they do not smoke? It's called a SHISHA BAR for a reason. There is absolutely no grounding for enforcing this law at all. How will the second hand smoke effect any average person? They're all there to smoke, kill themselves, whatever.... thats upto them, it has NOTHING to do with the government. This really does need reviewing as I personally know peoples livelyhood has been taken away from them and there businesses. If you ask me, this is more then just a ban, I think there is something more sinister going on...

Oh btw I doubt that there are only 2 aero top soops with a man box. There was a blue supra in banzai magazine a few issues ago which was also aero top and had a manual gear box.

How does the driving experience differ from the auto? Can you describe it (as I'm considering it also)... So, chunk, was the big money worth is in your opinion?
