  1. They used to be able to test the braking in the carpark area (a good excuse for them to drive your high powered or modified car) but at our centers it is now all computerised from start to finish so I dont know if they can bypass the system.
  2. Hi, my car is booked in for the MOT for the first time since it was transformed. It is now considerably lowered and has a Whifbitz front bumper and side skirts and also a 3 inch exhaust so ground clearance is only about 4 or 5 inches. I am worried that when they drive it into the rollers for testing the brakes that it will bottom out or damage the bumper, skirts or exhaust. Does anyone know if the MOT centre has an obligation to test lowered cars in a different way. After all how do they test Lambos and other supercars which are seriously low?
  3. I have a Nur Spec RX ehaust fitted to my car. With my setup (T60 single, cast manifold, RMM decat front pipe) it is pretty throaty. At idle it burbles nicely, accelerating it roars like a V8 but as soon as you ease off or reach cruising speed it is nice and quiet. So the best of both worlds.
  4. It is even nicer than the pictures show. The camera cant pick up the full effect of the sparkle coats. The base colour is Nightmare blue which is a bit like the blue on the newer Beemers. Then there are 4 coats of Hotrod Sparkle purple with a bit of blue sparkle added to stop it overpowering the blue (we had to do 6 different samples to get it right. Sometimes too much purple killed the blue, not enough and it didnt sparkle enough). The end result is a car that looks blue in normal daylight but as soon as the sun or streetlighting hits it there is a dazzling purple sparkle which changes intensity on different parts of the car dependant on the angle the light hits it.
  5. The brakes are awesome. Very well balanced especially with the rear kit on as well. Havn`t had to stop from big speed yet but I would have complete confidence in them doing the job. Expensive kit but you get what you pay for! I wanted to go for the best in all the parts I put on the car. Just had to save up a bit longer. The weak dollar at the end of last year was a nice bonus.
  6. I bought the car pc from a website in Germany. About £1100 for the top of the range specs. It is a great bit of kit. Just slots straight into the double din slot and only needs an adaptor to connect to the existing wiring. It comes with the front end software, gps mouse, remote control and more. Bootup is about 20 seconds.
  7. It is only running 0.7 bar for the first 1000 miles to break in the new parts. Then a full oil change and boost turned up to 1.2. It is my daily driver so I was not really interested in big top end power. What pushed me towards this setup was the fast spool. Even now it drives brilliantly around town. More like a big V8 than a turbo. Loads of torque from about 3000 revs.
  8. Got the car back at the weekend at last.[GRIN][/GRIN] It has been away since November with mechanics, painters, interior retrimmers and painter again. Finally back, washed and photos taken. The final bit will be a full interior and exterior detail to really make it shine ( but this can wait for a few weeks while I get to know her again). A big thanks to Dusty at MVP, Supra Specialists Ireland, Top Secret Evolution and painter Darren. Anyway, here are a few pictures of the car. They don`t really do it justice as it is hard to see the sparkle in the paint in the pictures. In real life when the sun hits it there is a dazzling blue/purple sparkle. 9. I found the exact opposite. I thought the Toyos wore really quickly on the outside edge but the Goodyears only wear on the inside (normal wear with the standard suspension geometry). I run the Goodyears and find them a good compromise of grip and wear.
  10. Is the needle in front of the glass? It dosnt disappear when the power is off. On the Blitz MD all you can see is the black glass.
  11. Ok, so do they go completely black when the power is off?
  12. I was after a gauge with a silver bezel and this one seems to have a black one. I know that sounds a bit picky but every new part in the whole project has been chosen to compliment eachother. I was looking for one similar to the Defi BF but stand alone.
  13. hi. I was wanting to install a 50mm gauge to match my 60mm Blitz Mirror Drive gauge. It has a black backlit face (which goes black when power is off) and a silver bezel. I have seen Defi gauges which look very similar but which need the control unit to work. I have also seen one called STRI DSD but have no idea what the build quality and accuracy is like. Does anyone know any alternatives or has used the STRI?
  14. I have seen this one advertised before and it is possibly the one to go for. However I would rather get it done professionally rather than wreck my new paintjob by trying it myself.
  15. I was really asking about the professional sealant treatments. I see Autoglym do one called Lifeshine which they claim will give 5 years without waxing before needing to be redone. It is probably reasonably expensive but would seriously save on elbow grease which sounds good to me.
  16. My car is just back from a full colour change respray and I was keen to give it the maximum protection. Normally I would just wax with Autoglym once a year but as this is a brand new paintjob I would be keen to leave it in for one of the proprietory applications. Has anyone tried these sealers and can you recommend a spec?
  17. The car should be finished and back with me in a couple of weeks. I will post the photos and a full list of the parts. Basically it is half of MVP`s shop!
  18. Well three months is slightly longer than hoped for but you have to factor in the Christmas period and the snow we had over here so we lost at least a couple of weeks. There has been a hell of a lot of work as pretty much everything has been upgraded. The painter is stripping back to bare metal for a complete colour change and the interior guy is doing a full leather retrim, car pc, dials etc.
  19. Pretty much everything. Turbo, fuel system, valves and springs, MAP ECU, FMIC, radiator, oil cooler, clutch and flywheel, exhaust, front and rear brakes, coilovers, bodykit, full respray, full interior retrim and much more. Not much left of the original car:eyebrows:
  20. Maybe everyone has gone to bed. What wimps.
  21. Maybe its late in the night but I`m surprised that none of you petrolheads has wondered why the car has been in so long.
