I would take those figures with a healthy pinch of salt, BHP may well drop with an aftermarket filter. Put your hand near the engine after a run and feel the heat that your filter will be sucking in without shielding... Alex, there is a link between cone filters and turbos going bang? Interesting.

IMO, most people have aftermarket filters because they look and sound nice. The first thing most kids ask me about my car is if I have a filter on it... Obviously, high BHP Supras/skylines need the extra air offered by an aftermarket filter, but this added flow comes at a cost - poorer filtration. As well as sucking in all the crap and dust from the engine bay, an open filter will draw in hot air, as it is not ducted like the stock one. The stock one is perfectly sufficient for 99% of cars.

Has anyone got the part number for the exterior plastic trim that is between the drivers side window and roof? The picture attached (sort of) shows the part i'm after...

The SLR sounded amazing, a big V8 is good enough but with that supercharger whine it sounded like a plane taking off. Awesome. Yeah, the hypnotism was a bit scary. I'm sceptical about it all, does anyone know a person its been done to? Bloody funny though, when Clarkson appeared in that mini-cherokee and slammed into the porsche - 'what are you doing in that, you look ridiculous!'

Forgot to say that its not holding boost for very long in parellel, it peaks at about 5k rpm then drops off through the rest of the range? Boost is fine in sequential, could it be something to do with the pressure tank?

1.3-1.4 bar, so I got a restrictor ring and it was around 1.2 after that.

No one got any ideas Its going on the dynos on June 5th, so i'd like to sort it out by then - should have some odd results otherwise. I'm replacing the speedo convertor, on Chris Wilsons recommendation, in an attempt to get no. 1 online sooner.

Just pull the old ones off, no need for a screwdriver. If you lose the harness down the bodywork, a bent wire coathanger will get it out easy enough.

Seems to be a few boost q's this morning Since i've had mine ETTC'd, I only hit around 1.0bar max when running in sequential. The first turbo doesn't kick in until around 3k, the second just before 5k. In parallel mode, boost will go as high as 1.4 (EGTs were 810). Obviously, this is not good for my car so i'm keeping it in sequential for the moment I'm not sure if this is relevent, but i get a loud (actuator) rattle when running in sequential. It goes when I boot it in parallel, only appearing again after a drive in seq? Any ideas?

I didn't tell them until I got a backbox put on, I was just going to plead ignorance. It now says 'aftermarket exhaust system' on my policy docs which covers the cats as well, cost me £50 more. When they asked was my exhaust a performance modification, I said I didn't know and that I bought it because it looks nice

Thats the Jun Akira Supra isn't it? That nose is designed with aerodynamics foremost, which is why it looks nothing like other aftermarket fronts.

There are undoubtedly some US supras on 20's, so they must be ok
