Well what a time I had yesterday. I arrived at midday to find the chap who organised it and he took me under his wing when I first got there, took me out for a few laps and then he had a go in my car. When he got in he wasnt very impressed lol, standard clutch, standard shocks, standard diff lol, I dont think he has had to work that hard to drift a car in a while as after to 2 laps he was starting to sweat a bit.
Anyway after being out with Sam for a couple of laps and him giving me some pointers I rushed back to the cabin to grab my mate, throw him in the passenger seat and get back out for some Dori action.
We managed a couple more rounds before they broke for lunch and after being wet all morning, it started to dry out, which made me work even harder, I was wishing that rain back. Anyway I asked Sam to take my mate out and about 15:00 he got the chance, which was good for him to see what a real drifter can do, while I was out of the car talking to them both Brad a regular there who I hadnt really met up until that point jumped into the drivers seat of my now empty car, so when I walks back over he was joking around saying Im going, Im going, so I said go on then you can have a go if you want, to which he seemed a little surprised but said ok, so he is joking out of the window with sam laughing about the car being totally stock, Sam telling him how he is gonna enjoy this one and Brads last words to Sam was "this sorts the men from the boys", now I want you to remember that bit lol. So Brad sets off in my car and the first couple of corners he's clutch kicking it to within an inch of its life trying to get the car to move how he wants, and then we are no more then half way round the first lap when something goes a little wrong, ie Brad sort of come off the track and ended up beaching the front of the car on a tyre wall. So me and a marshall push him back off but as the car is coming off the tyre wall it ripped the front bumper off, so off we limps back to the pit area with Brad apologising all the way about how bad he feels as it aint his car, but it really didnt bother me, its the drift shed after all and wouldnt be a true dirfter unless there was something being held on by cable ties lol.
But after 20mins on the pit area trying to cable the bumper back I decided to leave it off as we wasting valuable sideways time we and just got back out there, to which I literally spent the next 3 hours just going round and round, to say I was loving it is an understatement lol.....I didnt come off unless I had to......
So 16:00 comes and the marshall tells this is my last one, what Noooooooooo, I wanna stay lol, and after spending about 45mins cable tiying the bumper back on we set off home.
Was a totally good day, learnt loads about drifting and initiating a drift using the handbrake, something I have never been taught or praticed myself, got some good long drifts towards the end, what a feeling when your sweeping round a bend sideways, arse hanging out drifting along a tyre wall. Had quite a few more spins though, usually due to getting a little too excited and giving it a bit too much man foot.
Definitely need to get the diff welded, its so lazy in getting the standard VLSD to lock, drift handbrake and coilovers, she was a little boaty.......
Cant wait for next month......
Pics and video to follow.......
