Nah XP should be fine mate, some of the fastest and best systems about for gaming are still running XP as its more stable, i think you can still install DX10 but wont get all the benefits of Vista. i would recommend eVGA products for support and generally performance. but its all at a cost. im currently build a new gaming PC as we speak. i have my Q6600 CPU and OCZ 1066mhz 2GB Ram, need to get the eVGA 780i Mobo and a 8800gts like your self

think you could get the 8800gts cheaper from other sites to be honist. have a look around, ebuyer, scan.co.uk and overclocker.net

use audicity, i found if you dont have the right sound drivers installed you will prob get blue screen when you run it. but other than that its great and its FREE
