i agree with you are saying and that it should of never been stopped, but as it has i think it would be hard to get people now out of school and straight into a conflict zone, there is a lot of bad press at the moment and seeing guys coming back in coffins is not going to do any favours. thats why i think a home support corps would be a good idea. my father missed call up by i think 2 years, regrets now though not joining espically when he hears of my exploits. I also still hold faith in my alliegence to queen and country, but i am slowly begining not to, i understand my opinion will be one sided but we dont get the support that we need at times and if we do it is nearly all to late. but there are times when the Army does excell, cant speak for the other 2 services as my dealings with them are limited. richie

That was my thoughts when i started this, you, like me (i assume by your badge) would someday have to go with these kids to a country that you may have to rely on them to get you out of a prediciment, i dont know if i would be able to trust them with my life, they did not want to be there in the first place so are more than likely to cause problems. its bad enough at the moment having to toe the pc line!!

can you imagine the fun you could have!! would you volunteer for dishing out the punishment?

The only thing pointless about this thread is your comment, you sure Know how to stop a thread. The question is not whether the tories will get in because most politicians are the same at the end of the day. All i was asking was views of the general public, what do you care living in a non EU country. Any thread that contains discussions from more than one member is hardly pointless As for the others i understand what you are saying i agree with that we need to sort out the youth and i for one would be more than willing to go to a training unit and help them out in converting them to soilders!!!!!!!!! that would be good fun i am sure. Could we put them some where that they can help in other ways like covering fire strikes and helping back here like when we had the floods in Gloucester. That IMO would be a good start and those that enjoy Army life and who prove themselves at the end of there 2 years get the option to join a regular fighting unit.

Have you all seen the stuff in the papers and on the news today about the Tory's thinking about bringing back National Service! What are your thoughts on it? i know what mine are and that it wont be a good idea, i understand why they want to do it but i dont think its a good idea, not with all what we have going on at the moment around the world. It is hard enough to do the job over there as it is without the hassle of having someone in your troop that does not want to be there. What are your thoughts? Richie

yeh i went back in 2002 did not get to go back there though on my last 2 trips, but as i get out the army at christmas i wont be going back, nevermind

yeh thats bad! if you got any doubts on the safety side of things get one of you local sparkies round to help you out, i can give you advice on here if you need it, but i should think your going to need the cooker to do dinner unless your going to be doing take aways;)

fair one, i take it then there has been a few other misshaps around the house? it just pisses me off when i see stuff like that, i know people like to tackle diy jobs but that to me could of cost lives, not funny, i take it you are not going to use it now and turn it off where ever it is connected to hope fully there will be a spur near it that you can isolate it by hope to god they have not just wired it to the nearest socket! (prob have though).

on a serious note, you need to follow that up, that is one of the most dangerous things i have seen, i am a sparky all be it a tadge out of practise, some heads need to roll on that one, if you can find out who installed it i suggest you take it further, we are talking risk to life here!! not a funny joke.

where all the main hotels are is ok but dont go araound on your own, try to get to a place called carnaviors, great place to eat all sorts of different meats to try!!!!!!!!!!!!!
