  1. When the engine is warm.....and running properly....the car is perfect, humms nicely and is faultless. its so loud you can hear it inside the car, and under acceleration is really really loud!
  2. Hi guys, When i start my engine from cold, it starts at 1500rpm as normal, and all sounds good. As it starts to drop, and the engine begins to warm, there is this noticable rattly/tinny kinda noise which initially sounded like a spark plug rapidly sparking.....but the car isnt misfiring at all. When I put my foot down to give it more revs...the clicking/tapping/rattle picks up and is louder and more obvious.....until the car is warm and has been driven for a bit. Then it completely goes away. I have a couple of suggestions to what i thought it could be but im less than technical 1. heatshield 2. poor spark plug connection 3. Problem with one of the cats 4. some kind of rattle from somewhere. The only one that seems feasible is the cat ... as once its fully heated up it performs as normal? Anyone offer any more help?
  3. sorry to open this up again, i also think its induction related, I changed to an apexi induction kit, and its only happened since then, all the symptoms as described through the whole thread, i listened to the sound clip from mkiv.com, which does sound very similar, but it doesnt do it as loud, and doesnt do it on every gear change just now and then....i never even boost when the engine is cold, so its not when its cold....but defo when accelerating up through the first turbo...from maybe 40....thats my most common case! Oh well....just have to live with it...better off sorting the annoying squeel from my brakes!
  4. Hi guys, When I apply my brakes softly, I get a nasty squeel noise which is annoying more than anything...so I am going to change the front pads soon. However today i had the window open and driving normally, I can hear a similar squeel/whine come from drivers side rear wheel on slow movement up to maybe 30....sometimes...but not always. when i brake, it seems to go and the front wheel squeel comes on instead. Any ideas?
  5. Hahaha, yeah...im a pc tech - dont worry about that guys! its the car stuff that im useless at! My carputer has a specific shutdown/startup controller which doubles up as a 12v power supply. It works around engine cranks and always monitors the battery life to stop flats etc. where is the toad wiring box normally located? I found a box behind the radio when i put the screen in....but i couldnt honestly say whether it was the toad one! :$
  6. thanks for the help guys. Might be a silly question, is the brown/white wire hard to find?? If i connect that, through the relay you mention to the ignition live wire of my car pc setup then this will do this business yeah??
  7. Hi guys, I have a car pc built into my supra and its all working well. Only thing is, I want it to boot up quicker, and to achieve this think the best solution would be to wire the boot cable to the central locking...or alarm fob. that way the computer will boot when the car is unlocked, and shut down when locked. Does anyone have any knowledge of Toad alarms to tell me which wire I need to run from it and whether I need a relay to do this? Many thanks. IAn

  9. Hi guys. Just fitted an apexi induction kit, and taken the car out for a spin, first off when i started the car up (after a few days not starting it) i got a lot of white smoke but then nothing...i assume this was from where i took intercooler tubes off and also messed around with the air box tubes? Then driving, putting the foot down doesnt sound more throaty like it does in other cars (as I was expecting from a nice v6) and also with the stock dump valve i hear the atmospheric woosh.....i was kinda hoping i would hear wastegate chatter! Is this all ok...or would something work out better?

  13. I thought I could count them, but looked and didnt really know what to count...[OOPS][/OOPS] hence the post. I think they are two pot ones, but i will take a photo when i get home from work to check for sure. how hard is it to change the front brake pads....for a novice?
  14. would changing the plugs resolve the mis fire issue...cos mine does it every now and then....just a subtle murmur or blip in the normally lovely smooth idle of the car And if it is the plugs that need changing, what plugs are recommended for everyday road use, obviously not huge expense, but decent quality. thanks

Hi all, Had a look at the suspension on my motor today, They are toyota bilstein yellow shocks, part number 48530-720D Are these standard, and if so, can you just change springs on these to adjust the ride height, as my car is impractical how it is at the moment....it needs to be raised about 10 mm i think
  17. I know that this has been bought up before as I searched but there doesnt seem to be any concrete answers or solutions. I have a 94 plate 6sp TT and I was sorting the computer out today in the boot (so i know its nothing to do with my wiring )...so had the engine running sitting on my drive. and the Slip light started flashing. It did this before when I ran it on normal 95 octane unleaded...but hasnt done it since...then this all of a sudden. Before when it flashed there was no power and the car was running like a heap...but that was cos of the fuel....this time its got nearly a full tank of Esso super and its flashing...yet driving fine? I wouldnt mind but i got a long journey tomorrow, and dont really want any problems. Any help would be much appreciated.
  18. My supra is running on lowered springs and is so low its scuffs on pretty much everything, which isnt really practical. Can anyone suggest the best springs or does anyone have any spare old factory setup of springs they fancy parting with? will these fit on any shocks? And how easy/hard is it to change them?? IAn
  19. I know the 6sp is clunky, but in 1st and second I notice a clunk from the back of the car...sounds like its engaging something between the two back wheels? This might be a stupid question...is it something to do with the LSD??
  20. Oh and one more for luck. I switched the car on the other day and began driving, and the Slip Control Off which lights up on the dash board to show that the traction control is off, kept flashing, what does that mean? Sorry ... i am new to all this...but enjoying the experience

Sorry to be random, just got my 6sp TT supra and have a few questions. 1, what are the two points that boost should come on from each turbo and how much boost should I be getting at each point with a totally standard engine setup? 2, I know the 6speed gearbox is a bit clunky from reading what to look for in the reviews but sometimes I hear like a thud (louder with the windows down) when I put the car into first or second, especially as I take my foot up from the clutch. Is this normal or am i looking at new clutch / gearbox??? 3, by making the car TTC setup would it cause any problems to the turbos or anything, just by switching the normal vacuum pipes over as following the Mkiv NZ website details so called 5 minute job? Thanks in advance.
  22. Hi all, I run a car pc system in my supra twin turbo, and I was just wondering if there is a ODB2 port in this car, and where I would find a cable for this application if there is one as the pc will be a lot more flash if it can show an electronic boost reading, rpm etc. Thanks Ian
  23. Sorry to be a pain, in what way? I drive a lot, but a supra has always been my dream car, and with the motorway i was thinking i would get the best out of a 6sp manual??? But i also love to get the convertible type roof. Are the aerotops very similar in the way they work to the mr2 T-bar roof...only a whole panel rather thanjust two glass panels?
  24. I know they made manual twin turbos in aero top form over in the US, but I really want one thats right hand drive. Is it possible to get the top of the range GZ twin turbo aero top with the auto box and do a auto/manual (6 speed) conversion? What sort of money and time would it cost and has it been done??? Is the manual a lot better....and a lot more sensible with petrol?? (obviously no supra is sensible with petrol ) Cheers
