  1. They were but they were fitted less than 2 months ago. It was clear the cracks had been caused by the bleed nipple tightening. I noticed the brakes were squeaking a lot before ( they dont at all now) but i just thought they were still being run in. I guess i was wrong.
  2. I know I could have gotten them cheaper but i doubt they could have got there by this morning. Dont froget i couldn't get home (portsmouth) This means the money i lose from cancelling more clients would far outweigh the money saved on the brakes.
  3. Took my car to a supra specialist in bournemouth yesterday (tues) for a full c service. Dropped it off at 8am and got a phonecall at about 2 thinking i was going to be told "it's ready to be picked up." That wasn't the case. Instead i got "I'm not sure if you're aware of this but you're two front brake calipers are cracked". I wasn't aware of this, obviously, so i said "so what's the score then?". He said "I can't let you take it home in this condition as the brakes may fail and i can't get new calipers til the morning." So basically i had to spend the night in bournemouth (£50) and cancel clients for today (weds) which lost me serious money. Not as much as the bill for the repair cost me though...£800! That includes 250 for the full service and the brake calipers were £225 each On closer inspection of the calipers and with the explanation from the mechanic it was clear that this was a "bodge". The car had new brakes fitted before i bought it (when the previous owner had the car) and basically both bleed nipples had been tightened far too much and in doing so had caused a crack on each caliper (yes they were that tight!) Not only that, someone had obsiously realised this had caused a leak as there was what can only be described as "goo" stuck around the cracks. Whoever did it shouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing they'd done such a dangerous thing, the implications don't bear thinking about. Plus it's an auto so slowing down without brakes in a bad situation would have been even trickier. I'm gonna find out where it was done and make sure nobody goes there. On the plus side, i was told that other than that the car is in a1 condition. Such a shame that some w****r did such a thing.
  4. Turn the overdrive off (press the button under the selector button).

    Price Guide??

TBH the owner of the second car must have been smoking something. That's way more than he's gonna get. Compare it with similar car in the for sale section of this site and check out the difference. Even the first one seems over priced itself. Mileage is not stated (which generally means its gonna be high) and it doesn't even state if its a TT or not!

    Price Guide??

Yes, except for a minority which have been converted.

    Price Guide??

AFAIK cream leather was only sold on UK's therefore i imagine it would be extremely difficult tracking down original bits. Therefore u are limited to uk cars really. BHP is the same on UK/Jspec This is a matter of opinion. Imports have generally been treated much better than uk cars in terms of servicing, mileage is very low on some jspecs whereas uk cars are nearly all at the 100k mark. You get extra goodies with Uk cars such as the headlight washers but its up to you whether or not you're bothered about these. I have a GZ which is the top jspec model. Comes with leather, active spoiler and other goodies. I would look for one of them if you are after leather and all the gizmos. But then again they were only sold with autos. Hope this helps, Richie

    Price Guide??

To be honest i dont think thats too expensive. It's a uk car and 79k is low for uk's. Plus if it has FTSH then it's gonna keep going for a long, long time. Looking at the pics it seems to be in a1 condition and obviously you'd knock him down a bit on the price, probably 9k. I think its worth a look personally
  9. As all the gosport boys will be looking at this thread, are there any good places in or around gosport to service the supe? I've heard TV mentioned but not sure what happens there. At the moment i take the supe and i used to take my GT4 down to a specialist in bournemouth but thats quite a trek so if there are specialists closer to home that would be great
  10. It's damn bumpy in some places though! Although the resurfaced part has improved it a bit.
  11. If you are at brockhurst roundabout with the fort on your right, if you turn left (as opposed to going straight on to fareham road) you go over a small hill towards a smaller roundabout. i call it polarcup hill as the big factories either side used to be polarcup but i think they are called huhtamaki or something now
  12. We flashed each other () Anyone on here?
  13. rFactor is for PC. Only available via download AFAIK. Check out the link i posted earlier, you will be impressed. Here is the homepage http://www.rfactor.net/
  14. I can't believe nobody has mentioned rFactor yet, it's the only game i play now (and i love racing games). The game as standard is a bit thin on the ground in terms of variety but check out all the mods available http://www.rfactorcentral.com/ Check out the hall of fame for the current best rated mods.
  15. Nice one mate. I didn't think admiral insured under 21's on imports but i guess they do now. Can't argue with that price!

    Hello!

Hey guys, Finally bought a supra last week. It's a '93 GZ auto and i can't stop driving it! It's really down to this forum that i bought one at all as i used the excellent guides that were available and they really gave me piece of mind when i found a good one (i think!) so i am very grateful. I live in gosport so will try and come along to the southern meets if i can! Adam

  20. Not that technical i know but i was wondering what are the dimensions of a supra? Is the J-spec the same as the UK? AFAIK the UK is 14'10 by 5'11. Is this correct? Thanks in advance!
