I learned the other day the car is a total loss. Got my sister to take some pictures on her camera phone while we were there today (collecting possessions etc.), they're not the best but you get the idea of the damage. Also got two from the scene. You can clearly see the bar that went right through the car It went right through and you can see where it came through the passenger rear arch in the photos The bloke said that they had the repairs at around £11k. He couldn't believe that a carpet was £550.

The Bridgeport CNC I have at work is excellent, it's the last one of 3 (approx. 15 years old). The two knackered ones where used to machine steel/titanium and the other dural. The one we have left was only ever used as a borer. We mill on it now, but basically 2mm cuts @ 4000rpm @1500mm/min feed. to rough. Then finish 3mm cuts at 1000mm/min. The machine will still produce a good H7 bore at 90mm (the biggest size we do on it). Heidenhain is pretty simple to use, especially on the older TNC2500 on that m/c. You are not limited to simple XYZ movements you can move all 3 axis at the same time model/scan profiles etc. it's just you are into complex calculations with trig. etc. then unless you can acquire some programming software. Oh we also have a 4th axis which is like a rotary table a bit like a lathe chuck. It really is a versatile bit of kit, so much so they just can't get rid of it. There is massive investment at BAe at the moment, with multi-million pound machining centres going in i.e. 40000 rpm @ 30m/min feed machines. They are also a world leader in machining titanium too. But they still need some of the simpler machines to pull these fancy machines out of the shit sometimes.

Great film

Buy a CNC miller, not cheap but you can get a decent Bridgeport for about £8k and you can do pretty much anything on it. If I could afford, I would have one, like I have at work. Brilliant machines

I have agreed value etc. on the car.

How did you get stung mate?

Bit of an update. I rang the assessor of the car before. He said it might be saveable. He wanted to knowa few things about the kit etc. after I'd got over the insult of him asking me if it was a veilside front I told him top secret front, oem skirts and spats etc. He said I need 2 new wheels as they have both been damaged. But he said the bar that has gone right through has gone through pretty cleanly. I ain't getting my hopes up as the spraying etc. will cost a bit I'd imagine. He said if it starts to get towards the £4k mark, it will be approaching a write-off. I should know by tomorrow he said.

Stunning car, it's pictures like that that make me want one.

Cheers all for the support it's very much appreciated.

Haha, that made me laugh, he's welcome to her, if he can put up with her bad reverse parking, and bad moods and constant whingeing.....lol

Cheers everybody for the support/offers etc. It means alot. The worst bit is today I am stuck at work on a 13 hour shift, with nothing more to do than think about what's happened. I thought it would take my mind off things. The more I think about it though the more I want MY car back, and also hearing peoples views of the car. So I am leaning to hoping it can be fixed, but I won't hold my breath. I did want it to be written off, as I have a thing about accident damaged cars. Hopefully I will know the damage by Tuesday, so the repair place said. Fingers crossed.

Cheers all, it really is appreciated. Thanks for all the offers of help/chats etc. This is why I say it really is the best club around, the spirit in this club really is second to none. Cheers all

Thanks that makes me want to get it repaired even more Yeah I might be on in a bit mate, might just watch a film yet. I have got work in the morning, can't bare to go in

Thanks matey, it's appreciated. I have just had an offer of a game on call of duty from H. He even said I can kill him for free. One of my biggest smiles of the day, along with my mate asking if I want to come for a bus pass with him.......lol
-
Yeah thanks mate. I loved that car and really would love it back, I sort of want it to be repaired, but I just think a car is ever the same wants it's been in a smash.

Sorry there people had typed a post in there but I must have not hit the enter button peoperly. The damage might not have been as bad as I think, but it won't take long for the parts to tot up on these cars, as you will all know. I am insured through Sky Insurance, to be honest I have only heard mainly good things about them on here, so I hope everything goes smoothly.
-
Yes mate me too. Thanks mate. They are assessing the car on Tuesday I think. How long do these thinks tend to take, does anybody know? If it is a write-off that is.
-
Thanks people, no I haven't taken any photos. I was too gutted to do anything. I was in a state of shock all day. Just couldn't face upto doing anything. I am working tomorrow, so hopefully that might take my mind off things a bit. I can't bare to go home at the moment, being alone in the house is just what I don't need at the moment.

I am absolutely devastated to say I crashed my car yesterday morning. I was turning at a junction and I swerved to avoid something, and the back end hit a kerb and sent me flying the other way and onto a sort of metal fenced plant patch. I think the car is written off, one of the posts lining the plant patch has come right through the car. The bumper is smashed the rad pierced, so I'd imagine the intercooler is knackered too. It also looked like the wheel had pushed back to, so maybe suspension and wheel damage. I am absolutely gutted, to say the least. My life has been really low since splitting from my girlfriend of 7 years. I am over her, but have been really lonely since. I have struggled moneywise ever since too, having a house on my own. Now this really is the final kick in the teeth. I hope I can get another though, as I love the car to pieces and the members club. The people on here really are the best people around. But I have always toyed with the idea of an RX-7. So I thought of maybe one of those and a diesel runaround. But financially I don't think it will be possible.

Surely it can't be Gavin Starr again. This section should be dedicated to him. -
Karolina my sister saw your car on Friday night, when she was going through the illuminations. She said it was a white one with blue at the back, and a women driving it. There can't be too many Supras knocking about matching that description

I vote for a car meet, I go out drinking usually 3 times a week at the moment as it is

I keep finding them on my laminate floor, but they are mainly babies, they're tiny. I think they are the stragglers, that are hatching etc. and making it off the carpet. I sprayed the laminate but obviously there's no fibre for it to absorb into. I hoover with a dyson with some of that powder in then empty it straight in the bin in a sealed bag. I also read that a cut up flea collar will kill them. I want rid of the bleeters now. I get in bed and everytime I feel a twitch I think I am being invaded
-
Did you still see fleas for a few days after you had treated? Did you keep hoovering too. I read somewhere that once treated the hoover is the best weapon to getting rid of them.
