  1. Finished cambelt and coolant change on Saturday morning. I spent a few hours each night last week doing it and it went really well after I managed to get the bl**dy crank bolt undone. While I had the parts off I thought I would give some bits a treat to Nickel plating to add a bit of bling. Really pleased I tackled it and its all working fine. I will write a "How to" and post it on here in case anyone else wants to have a go. CJ's manuals really helped out with this, well done mate.
  2. About f**king time someone done that. love to see the vid of him getting whacked back.
  3. Thought it was ok'ish. Not as good as others i've seen like Saw and Saw2, but good bit of gore and fit totty.
  4. As long as you have the right tools, its not too bad. Just allow yourself time to do the job properly and not be rushed. I take it you have seen the thread by IanC. Click here. I didnt fancy doing them either, but I thought what the heck, there only shocks. You do start to learn about the car by doing jobs yourself, and give yourself confidence to tackle more technical ones. Good luck.
  5. If I was nearer to you mate I would give you a hand. Its not too much of a job to do. Possibly might be worth changing the shock dust boots while the springs and shocks are off, about £20 each I think from Toyota.

    Haynes

I got one off ebay but it was for a US spec. I dont think Haynes ever printed one for the mkiv supe. CJ's manuals are the dogs, well worth £54
  11. to the club, mate. I managed about 30 mpg last week, but that was motorway, off boost 95% of the time and keeping it to about 60mph.
  12. Hired a 3/4" drive ratchet today, crank bolt gave up with that. Got it off straight away. Crank pulley, and lower cambelt pulley off now. No leaks from front crank seal. All I need to do now is clean everything and nickel plate some of the parts while they are off. Bling on the way. I can start putting it back together tomorrow.

    Warranties

I've had a few repairs done under warranty. new starter motor on first supe. new starter motor and new flexi plate which involved taking off the gearbox, on current supe. Both jobs cost around £1200, I had to pay about £70 towards it. Paid £1000 for 3 year warranty with Warranty Direct and had no probs with them paying out, still got about 5 months left. As long as the servicing is done by a VAT registered garage and you have the receipts they are fine. Bit I agree that some warranties are just a waste of money.
  14. Bad luck mate. Hope you get it sorted soon.
  15. Rob, both sockets broke around the hex end, could have been the 6 foot extension bar i was using . Going to call a local tool hire shop tomorrow and get a stronger socket and wrench. What ones do you have Martin? I tool i made locked the pulley ok its just getting something strong enough to crack the bolt.
  16. Well pi**ed off now. Spent about 3 hours yesterday stripping out everything to get to cambelt. Made up tool to lock crank pulley this morning and then spent another two hours trying to remove the crank bolt. All I achieved was breaking 2 sockets and a wrench. Any ideas? I dont want to heat it up because of ruining it. Would 3/4" or 1" drive sockets be stronger, as I was using 1/2".
  17. Hi everyone. Just now got time to get back on here, been a bit busy. Thanks to Daman for a organising such a great day, cant wait for the next one.
