Mate, I'm after the dials - speedo, revs, water temp and fuel. I've just done exactly the same conversion to my car. I came to the same conclusion, but now its done, I'm loving the car. Any snags, just ask (don't forget to swop fuel pump and fuel pump control box in inner wing OS rear!!) Simon

I've got one for sale if you're still in need. Perfect working order, very smooth shift, no noise or rattles. It came out of my own car when I did a complete engine/gearbox/diff change to UK spec. Portsmouth area. PM if you're interested. Cheers, Simon

NUR spec baffle wanted. Mine got blown out one day! Cheers, Simon

I'm in, subject to usual blah about quality, colour and logo's. Cheers, Simon

I did the very simple conversion from auto to a manual on my normally aspirated Sup some time ago with this 5 speed box. It is smooth and quiet. I have subsequently thrown in a TT engine & 6 speed box into the car, so the 5 speed is now surplus to rqrmts. So the box and the correct length prop shaft to fit straight into a NA Sup are available. I'm looking for £250 for it, if my memory serves me correctly I paid £750 for it 2 years ago. (Yes, I did advertise this about 6 months ago, but at that time no one wanted one) Simon

Have successfully converted my NA motor to twin turbo (engine & manual box from UK spec Sup), but the calibration of speedo is all wrong (indicates I'm doing 110 when I'm doing 70) and the rev counter doesn't work at all (the signal pick up point is different between the 2 engines and I imagine it's an entirely different signal to the dial). Could do with the 3 dial panel for UK spec car, anyone got one pls? Simon

If they fit okay, pls count me in for a set when you go into mass production. VMT Simon

Still DESPERATE for UK spec manual diff, clearly I wasn't quick enough to get Chiefgroovers diff...it was for sale at 0445 in the morning, sold by 1045! Cheers guys Simon

Completely destroyed my Diff, car off road until a replacement is found - pls help! I've no idea if the ratios are the same between UK spec and jap LSDs, whether manuals and autos TT all had same diff so I can widen my search -any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks guys and gals, Simon

Flippin heck fellas, thanks very much for such speedy help. Chris not only sorted me a pair of cats within 1/2 an hour of my post, but also diagnosed the noises I've got with the gearbox at the same time! Top geezer, cheers mate. Simon

Desperately seeking both cats for UK TT, grateful to loan/hire or purchase. I have heard that Sup will get through MOT with just the first stage cat and a by pass for second - if so, will happily loan/hire or purchase any combo. Thanks gang. Simon.

Last of the clearance items still for sale
SupraSymz replied to Chris Wilson's topic in Parts for Sale
Chris, my car has a full decat pipe bypassing both stages of cat. I've been informed to get the car through an MOT that I'll need of a front cat (1995 UK TT manual) and either a decat pipe for the second stage or a second stage cat. Can you help at all? Thank you Simon -
Anyone know the effect of not having the second oxygen sensor (AKA sub-heated sensor?) fitted in a UK spec TT pse? (The car has a decat pipe installed) Thanks guys Simon

Any Auto owners swaped there Diff for a UK Manual Diff Yet?
SupraSymz replied to veilsideTT's topic in mkiv Technical
I just did this swop last week. The prop needed is shorter on the LSD, and the passenger side drive shaft is significantly shorter than the auto item too. (Basically, whilst both diffs have the same fixings to the chassis, the LSD is longer and wider, albeit the extra width is almost entirely offset to the passenger side. The UK LSD also comes with an electric pump on the top of it which needs wiring up if you're intending to really excercise the diff - the pump drives diff oil out to an oil cooler in the drivers side air duct. help pse, 3 fault codes on cold Soup (dead)
SupraSymz replied to SupraSymz's topic in mkiv Technical
Engine (inc turbos, inlet etc), gearbox, prop, diff, driveshafts, brakes from 1994 UK spec TT. ECU (AKA ECM), engine loom, igniter, ballast resistor from same donar. UK spec air intake box, MAFsensor, fuel pump, fuel computer, rad shroud, supplementary elec rad fan, all sourced and installed. Turbos are standard UK spec items, refurbed & rebuilt by Turbo Dynamics. Original (Jap spec NA) pwr str pump, air con pump, alternator fitted. None standard parts: Cat bypass pipe installed, to Blitz NUR spec exhaust (the hole in the cat bypass for 2nd oxygen sensor is bunged up with a sensor from the NA car, but not connected to anything). HKS plugs (they were already in the TT engine). FMIC. HKS SSQV dump valve fitted in place of the traction control sensor/motor, the electrics to that sensor have been cut off. I thought that the electrics to the traction control sensor/motor only influenced traction contol and automatic box - as I have neither, thought I'd be okay there. Thought that the 2nd oxy sensor had no effect on performance (?? not sure on this one), so didn't mind being without for a while. As for the crank and cam sensors..they're all in place and working I think, so could I have put the inlet cam on incorrectly (180 out?) when i rebuilt the engine? Would it give the symptoms I described in my 1st mail? -
Nearing the end of converting my NA to TT. The lovely British Spec unit is back together and fully installed (associated fuel pump, computer, MAF. etc all done too). Turn key, engine fires and ticks over, a little grumpy but ticks over. Eventually engine warms up, then dyes without reason. Try flash her up now, even when cold, she'll tick over for about 10 seconds, then die again. Checked the Fault codes, there are 3 identified. First, "(13), Crankshaft posn sensor, camshaft posn sensor 1&2 - no signal over 1000RPM". Second "Heated Oxygen sensor (HO2S)2" (probably due to the fact that I don't posssess the the second oxy sensor, its disconnected). Third "Throttle posn sensor2" (probably cos I've disconnected it permanently) ANY IDEAS??? Most likely source of the problem? Where is number 2 camshaft position sensor located? Will I ever get this car back on the road? Thanks guys es ever Simon

Some plonker bid on my manual gearbox, won it on ebay then when he got here realised he'ed bid on the wrong box...thought it was for a Mark III. Doughtnut!! SO if anyone wants a 5 speed manual gearbox from a MKIV Supe for £250, which includes flywheel, prop shafts, prop shaft bush, mounting bush, clutch slave cylinder, shifter and shifter bracket, give me a shout quick, else I'll be trying my hand again with ebay on Sunday night. Yes, its the one I've had in my car the last 3 years since I took out the auto box, its out of a 1995 car, it's in thoroughly good order, quiet and smooth, never jumps out of gear, totally Toyota rock solid, just came out of my car about 5 weeks ago cos I'm putting a 6 speed in with a Twin Turbo engine. Obviously I've only got one, so the first DEFINITE yes gets it. I say again, its for a Mk IV....a MkIV....a MkIV....a MkIV....a Mk IV....a Mk IV....a MkIV....

Lot of distraught Supe drivers out there today for one reason or another. Mine is 'cos some plonker bid on my manual gearbox, won it on ebay then when he got here realised he'ed bid on the wrong box...thought it was for a Mark III. Doughtnut!! Now I have the pleasure of going through the whole thing again!

Gutted for you mate. Glad you're okay. Fact is, from the ones I've seen in breakers yards, if I was ever to have a serious "off", I'd be glad it was in a Supe...they're pretty robust. Still, on the bright side, you might be able to buy it back from the insurance company after their payoff, sell off loads of bits to us lot, further increasing your dosh, then with the experience you've gained from your first Supe, be able to choose the perfect spec for you're next one one!

Crickey, good job we checked then, embarrassing for both of us otherwise! No worries mate. Simon
-
94 NA 1st stage cat...all yours mate, just let me know. Simon
-
weinelm, thanks mate. Ordered a shaft from some guy in the midlands. He is breaking a UK spec car (or at least the car he described has an oil cooler in the drivers side rear wheel air vent, so I'm praying it has the same diff as mine). It should arrive tomorrow, so the last part of my engine/box/diff swop will be complete. Flippin heck i hope it all works after this! Simon

When zinging up the A34 at 70 odd around some of those long curves, the car feels like it handles well. Taking them at close to twice the speed, it feels awesome, like it's being planted onto the tarmac. I assumed that was the downforce of the rear wing? If you don't need to go so fast, I'm sure you won't miss the wings high speed stability.

Looks pukka mate. Whilst I like my car being black, I've often toyed with getting it painted white to provide a clean canvas for some monster graphics and decals.
