Have you watched the Busa turbo, awsome excellaration from 150mph! I'm in deep shock!!!

Well guys I s**t you not - apparently the Fiesta gave the Supe a right royal pasting. I just need to know how and why. Cos like you Mikey, I just can't see how its possible. My old next door neighbour had a mod-ed Cosworth turbo 4x4 Sierra thingy and was pushing out about 375 horses and yes it was quick but nothing compared to a moded Supe pushing out in excess of 400 horses. The questions are : can an enginer of such magnitude be shoehorned into a Festa? and can it lay down the power through its front wheels quicker than a rwd Supe? I do need to see it to beleive it.

Did any one see Men and Motors where a tricked up Fiesta Turbo whoops a tricked up Supras ass. One of my mates was telling me he watched it in dissbelief last week. I didnt see it can any one tell me more? Must admit I found it hard to listen to, but he was adiment that it happened.

Does a Honda VFR 400 do 155mph?? The 750 I had would only just nudge 140mph. Still, just goes to show, give a boy a mans toy and it'll end in tears. It's the cars occupants and family I feel for, ok go out and rag it and kill yourself but to take two people with you.............

AJI, in response to your response. With regards to letting the public know, I would suggest they already do know how this government work yet do nothing about it as we are unable to do anything about it. The issue which I have written about previously has had media coverage from the Times to the Television, yet how many people have heard it. ALL of the association which I work for members totalling some 400 companies were asked to lobby their MP's to date I think a dozen or so have actually done something, the rest are now starting to listen - albeit too late because the decision has now been made - and are now starting to complain because they are likely to lose business. Apathy is what we will have to overcome with the public, because they think and have been brainwashed to think there is nothing can be done about the or any governmental issues. If a blockade or such like were to go ahead, the police would have 'new powers' to deal with the situation. Yes that would get media attention and yes Blair would respond, but he would also respond by turning it to his advantage - guarantee he would condemn it as some sort of urban terrorist action and get the majority to back his way of thinking. As previously stated, they could bring fuel taxes down quite easily, but we would pay for it in other taxes. We have to pay for this governments bad management someway and taxes are it. In fairness this is a matter for the Chancellor (Gordon Brown) and MP's are relitivly powerless. Has anyone targeted the Lords yet, if not give it a bash...accross all parties, obviously not the 'Greenies' or the Lib Dems. Is there an All Party Parliamentary Group watching over the Fuel Issues and OPEC? They are the guys that can at least enquire why the taxes are so high and they will get answers and possibly some sort of action. It's a very long and convoluted road though, full of obstacles and beurocracy. And beleive me VERY, VERY frustrating - ever tried bashing your head against a brick wall even though one knows the outcome? There would need to be an Alliance or officaial committee of some sort with some pretty hardball playing members on the committee. Clarkson would be an ideal Chairman, he has an awfull lot of followers, and likes to have a dig whenever possible. Other forms of motoring magazine editors on some sort of lobbying committee?? Just thoughts that arent too radical yet may get a result...........

Hi guys, am now back from my hols. I have been catching up on the latest regarding 'Petrol prices, WTF'. All makes realy interesting reading, we all apear to be singing from the same hymn sheet, however - If I may - I have recently been involved with lobbying the government with regards to their 'going ahead' with cutting grants and funding for this countries exporters in favour of grants and funding for 'Inward Investors' (forign companies to come to this country and set up in direct competition with our guys-???) the fact that the exporters of this country contribute 60+ % of this countries wealth would apear to be of no consiquence to Gordon or Tony what so ever. After finnally sitting with the All Party Parliamentary Export Group and getting absolutely nowhere, because they are unable to listen to reason and sense, but hey, that is the remit of a Labour government, they will tell you what and when you will do it, spend and tax as much as they can and leave it for the next government to sort out when it all goes pear shaped, All Labour policies are short term and for that reason they can't afford to listen to reason and us. So in short no matter how much ranting, protesting, blockading, going slow, writing to MP's etc. we do it aint going to change a thing I'm affraid. As I have said for the past 18 months I have been involved with all that at quite a high level and got nowhere. Cos they need the tax money to pay for their very ill advised spending sprees and jobs for the boys, which they do to make them look good in the short term. The economics of this country should be as simple as running a house, if one has it one can spend it, if one hasnt one shouldnt, however labour seem to want to borrow, borrow, borrow and spend, spend, spend, which I am affraid leaves us pay for it through taxation - and for years to come no matter who gets in to government next. Sorry to have gone a wee bit off topic......but the point is we can bring the fact that we are not happy with fuel prices and the tax on fuel to the governments attention and if they do listen - which is highly unlikely - and lets say they do bring the tax on fuel down a couple of % what will they tax to compensate for it? I'ts a no win situation, better they freeze it than bring it down. I suppose they could have a chat with OPEC, but hey, they do own the world!! So do we really think they will listen to a jumped up little tw*t like Blair? Here endeth my rant.... thanks for reading.

2 probs The reverse gear doesnt beep, and my water is boiling
Kip replied to Mace's topic in mkiv Technical
This may be a long shot, but its happened to me recently, suggest checking the multibelt main pully off the crank. They have a metal outer which the belt runs on and a rubber inner. The rubber came away from the outer and although it span the belt whilst the enginer was idleing and not under load, whilst using the power steering and the air con it caused the belt to stop and overheat the water. Bastard to get at, but worth checking. -
If, and when there is an alternative to oil based fuel, there will be an insentive for the masses to buy, then, as with deisel, remember the price it was compared to 4 star 20+ years ago? when everyone is running the alternative Mr Taxman will up the duty to be paid - almost weekly! - then Mr 'Greenman' ( the slipper wearing peddal pushing vegi!) will say that it's actually worse than before and that then will affect the price, we, the motorists are on a hiding to nothing, I hate to use this phrase but we are the 'easy target' it's like taking candy from a baby.. Take the Toyota hybrid thingy, really fuel efficient, but has batteries - I think! - how much will it cost to despose of those batteries let alone the car when it's reached it's sell by date? One does have to ask if it is so good why are the government backing and promoting it and all the other fuel effecient cars for that matter? - double standards and LOSS OF REVENUE PERHAPS? They couldnt get you whilst driving the damned things but I guarantee if every one starts using them they will get you at the end of their life. I have to agree, no matter how much we plead shout, rant, riot, and debate, (mass - debating in the case of this government!!) we do, we aint going to be heard my friends. Perhaps a revolution is needed - count me in! Get rid of the lot of em and lets have people that have at least some knowledge of the common man and his/her day to day plights. To many 'straight from Uni students' with power, what do they know about the real world which we live in??? Lets hear it for Wolfy - power to the people... oops, showing my age.... !

OK guys I have to tell you - 99.9 pence for 97RON on the M40 (BP services) - on my way to Bournemouth - then filled up at the Tescos in Branksome and paid 85 pence for 99RON! WTF? So as I suspected, both Tax man and the 'Cartel' are to share the blame for money grabbing. What is this bo**ox about prices having to rise because of supply demands, can anyone please explain how that works? I have had my own business and when I produced a product that had a great turnover I lowered it's price - for obvious reasons - yet for small volumes it was a higher price. So, just how does it work with fuel industry? It would apear the more they sell the higher the price and if demand comes down they lower the price....DOHH. Am I missing something? Do they not pump oil and produce fuel all year round at the same rate and tanker it up for use when supplies increase?

Have you not yet realised that to this government the motorist is an easy target for income. We have to suppliment the disgusting way in which the majority of our money is so badly spent - Advisors and Consultants!! You can guarantee that there are advisors and consultants advising the government, how, where and when fuel is to rise and fall and all these parasites have to be paid fat salaries. I agree with the idea of everyone uniting and not buying petrol for two days, that, I feel, would colapse the economy and show the theiving gits who really is in charge. I fear though, until we all unite and let em know, there aint no use in whinging cos they aint listening. But, lets not just lay the blame at the governments feet - it has also got alot to do with the 'cartel', oops they don't like to be called that! they like us to beleive they trade fairly - Who said price fixing aint fair?? That's that off my chest.

Best thing you can do by the sounds of it is go to the supervisors boss and tell him/her what is happeneing, if that fails, wait until your exams are over, keep your head down and when youve got the green light... go to the local rag and tell them what is happening, name names etc, etc. But, remember you must do it professionally and NOT make it seem as though you are just whinging because you have an axe to grind. Then, hopefully you will expose the supervisor for the tw*t that he/she is. Perhaps you might even suggest to your supervisors boss that he/she takes a man management course, quite clearly the wannabe needs too. My motto through life has always been "never to get mad, but by christ I ALWAYS get even". Stay cool, and dump him/her right in it at your earliest convinience. Have fun..............keep your calm, time is on your side my friend and so is the law of the land, ever heard of constructive dissmisal, look it up on the net you may find it interesting!

I drive an RZS TT and my advice is: Originally picked the car up with F1's, good tyre and plenty of grip though don't last long. (and I'm not a particularly quick driver!) Worth getting decent tyres, look around, my last set of Toyo T1S's were excellent in the wet and dry, great traction and cornering ability and at £85 each, fitted, a bargain - ok, they only lasted about 6/8k - worth every penny though. I am just having some Bridgestone Expidia SO1's fitted for £87 each. Don't go the cheap route, you will regret it! Good soft rubber can be found at reasonable prices. I am lead to beleive the F1's are no longer available for standard size rims - any one know otherwise? If you do change the profile on the rear, it's a good idea to change the fronts at the same time. Try the Toyo's or shop around for bargain good rubber is my advice.
