  1. I went to wheel mania when i was looking for wheels, as there only down the rd from me. cant say i was impressed with what they had to offer or the service, all i got was these might fit but youll need wheel spacers etc etc. The guy couldnt even be arsed to get out of his chair to help me spend £2500, his loss. Ive now got some top alloys off P Whiffin who got them from japan for me. The only drama is waiting a couple of months or so for delivery. But mine were def worth the wait. He can virtually get whatever you want i think. Regards Andrew(dunk)Shaw Black uk mkiv tt
  2. Hi Gaz, Cant believe you forgot the screenwash m8 and while your at it how about 2 new wiper blades. :p :p Regards Andrew(dunk)Shaw Black uk mkiv tt
  3. I'll be out of this smoking club before the US bomb Iraq and oil prices go through the roof Regards Andrew(dunk)Shaw Black uk mkiv tt
  4. Hi Barry, Ive found out that the Mobil 1 ive been using is 0-40 which is bloody thin, so im swapping to the Valvoline Synthetic which is a thicker oil. So when its in i'll let you guys know whether it does the trick or not !!!!!! Regards Andrew(dunk)Shaw Black uk mkiv tt
  5. Hi Eyefi, Just got back from picking up my new wheels from Paul Whiffin, ooh they look the dogs b*****ks. Popped into Leon's workshop in Milton Keynes on the way home and had a good chat with him, and like JB reckons its worth a try using the Valvoline Synthetic oil. So im going to change oil and filter early next week and see if its any better. If not its back to Leon and he can take the head off and see whats what. Thanks for the welcome to the smokers club but forgive me as i dont intend being a member for long. Regards Andrew(dunk)Shaw Black uk mkiv tt
  6. Im going to Paul Whiffins tomorrow to pick up my new wheels (Enfield) so i'll give Leon a call and pop in and see him on the way back up the M1. Thanks for your input John, think i'll try the Valvoline oil then, and if that doesn't wrk then me thinks its head off time and new valve guide seals. ( and at same time HKS cams, pulleys and cam belt ) Regards Andrew(dunk)Shaw Black uk mkiv tt
  7. Great minds think alike eh John Thats along the lines of what i was thinking, (honest:rolleyes:) Im now thinking of changing the oil and filter and swapping to a differant oil. My only worry is a few people say to always run the same oil, which is why i use Mobil 1 as the cars always run on it !!! Can you recomend a differant oil that wont cause any probs as there will still be quite a bit of Mobil 1 left coated round the engine even after draining. Dont really want to use an engine flush, think they can do more harm than good. Regards Andrew(dunk)Shaw Black uk mkiv tt
  8. Cheers John, I suppose it could be that, your right Mobil 1 is very thin, not sure what the W rating is but i'll find out off my m8 who gets it for me. The wierd thing is it doesnt smoke at any other time other than when cold starting after being parked up overnite. Regards Andrew(dunk)Shaw Black uk mkiv tt
  9. Forgot to mention that its done 87,000 miles FSH and is running on MOBIL 1. Regards Andrew(dunk)Shaw Black uk mkiv tt
  10. Hi guys, When starting my uk mkiv tt from cold, having been parked up overnite on drive, ive spotted a small amount of blue/grey smoke out of exhaust, this clears within a couple of seconds and does not occur again until the cars been parked up overnite. Even after the cars been parked up for over 4 hrs in pub no sign of smoke. No signs of it whilst driving, either going for it or tootling along, (had a m8 follow me to check this) Is this possibly valve guild seals or something worse beginning to happen ? Any advice or comments would be appreciated. Regards Andrew(dunk)Shaw Black uk mkiv tt
  11. Thats a 550 Maranello isnt it ? Enzo will be turning in his grave if he knew somebody had put aftermarket polished alloys on it !!! SACRALIDGE:eek: Regards Andrew(dunk)Shaw Black uk mk4 tt
  12. Polishing will look great for a while, but with our weather conditions here in the uk and good old brake dust they will soon look not so good, unless you had them clear laquered after the polishing. (Which tends to dull off the polishing) I did all my engine casings on my 900 Honda many years ago but after several hours every sunday morning with the solvol autosol ally polish i'd had enough. Regards Andrew(dunk)Shaw Black uk mk4 tt
  13. Apparently there are cheap routes in chroming and expensive routes. This guy does it the proper way which involves copper plateing then nickel plateing then finally the chrome plating so hence the cost. Just spoke to the guy who does this and he said at least £100 per wheel. Send your wheels to Randy then Brad as they will only be about a £10 each plus post and packing. Regards Andrew(dunk)Shaw Black uk mk4 tt
  14. Hi Brad, Not sure where you'd get wheels chromed, but to give you an idea about cost a mates bodyshop is doing a restoration job on and old Chrysler and just had a quote for 2 bumpers & 2 headlamp bowls and the guy wants £550 to do it. Dont know if thats expensive or not as far as chroming goes. The guy who quoted the bumpers is Nick Webb 07710618563 he's in Worcester but might be able to give you a better idea on cost. Regards Andrew(dunk)Shaw Black uk mk4 tt
  15. Its only a problem because of where the diff cooler is, in front of the offside rear wheel collecting all the crap the wheel can throw at it !!! A bit of regular cleaning would soon cure the problem, or even a better cover to protect the cooler and feed pipes, as the stock one doesn't do the job properly !! At least if you catch it quickly enough its a dead easy fix, and if it hasnt started leaking then i recomend a bit of preventative maintainance. Regards Andrew(dunk)Shaw Black uk mk4 tt
  16. Hi Justin, On my last mk4 i had 9x18 fronts with 245x40x18 tyres and 10x18 rears with 285x35x18 tyres which worked really well, but the bigger width you go the worse the car tram lines. I think if you went up to 275 width on the front the car would tram line horridly, just my opinion !!! My new rims when they arrive are 9x18 and 10x18 as i know this wrks fine on a mk4, cant see any point in going bigger your just upping your tyre costs. Regards Andrew(dunk)Shaw Black uk mk4 tt
  17. Seeing as a couple of people said there diff oil coolers were leaking i thought i would give you a bit of info. Mine was leaking where the 2 rubber hoses push onto the cooler, whats happened is dirt and moisture build up round where the hose finishes and then corrodes the 10mm ally pipes that go into the cooler, mine had 2 little holes just above where the rubber hose's finish and the oil was leaking out and running down the rubber hose's. Easy to fix, as theres approx another 1.5 inches of ally pipe sticking out from the cooler body so i just bought some more hose (oil resistant) and made the hose's longer to cover the tiny holes, job done. Regards Andrew(dunk)Shaw Black uk mk4 tt + HKS goodies
  18. Cheers Gavin, thanks for looking for me. Ive just phoned 3 more dealerships and finally got an answer, the same as you say 75w90. My mate at BMW is getting me some Mobil 75w90 LSD oil which should do the trick !!! Regards Andrew(dunk)Shaw Black uk mk4 tt + HKS goodies
  19. Hi Gavin, Just my two local dealerships in B'ham There really hopeless, took them two hrs to get back to me with that answer !!! How do they stay in business ? Meanwhile my cars sat on axle stands just waiting for oil. At this rate i'll be walking home !!!!!!! Regards Andrew(dunk)Shaw Black uk mk4 tt + HKS goodies
  20. Hi Guys, Can someone tell me what oil to put in the diff of a uk mk4 tt, seeing as Toyota dont know !!!!!!!!!! Regards Andrew(dunk)Shaw Black uk mk4 tt + HKS goodies
  21. Hi John, Couldn't get to speak to my brothers technicians as there out at Rockingham doing some testing on one of there M3 endurance cars. Ive just spoke to Superchip direct and they say that they fit an ABC unit which is basicly an Anti Boost Cut Unit and a Bleed valve, they dont change the stock ECU chip. (or remap it) They reckon approx 45 bhp gain low to mid range, and approx 20-30% gain in torque low to mid range. They seemed to think it didnt matter whether it was a uk or import car !!!!! Cost is £511 inc vat and fitting and apart from the fitting cost would return your money if not happy. Regards Andrew(dunk)Shaw Black uk tt mk4 + HKS goodies
  22. Hi AJI My brothers company GT Services are a Superchip agent, ive asked them about chipping my uk tt mk4 and you wont get a 30 to 40% increase in power, more like 30 to 40 bhp gain not 90 bhp + !!!!! If you want some genuine info on the superchip give them a call, you need to speak to Tom Shepard on 01564 70 3665. Regards Andrew(dunk)Shaw Black uk mk4 tt + HKS goodies
  23. Hi Justin, Goodyear Eagle F1's IMHO are the best all round tyre you can get. Regards Andrew(dunk)Shaw Black uk mk4 tt + HKS goodies
  24. I found a drip of oil on my drive about 1 inch in diameter. So thought i'd best have a look, just got it on the ramp at work and it appears to be the cooler thats leaking not the hoses or connections. ( there all dry ) Just got a price of Toyota £129.89 + vat Think i might just get the stock Toyota one and be done with it. Whats the correct oil to put in the diff ? and is there a special way of refilling it ? seeing as its got the cooler to fill as well ? Regards Andrew(dunk)Shaw uk mk4 tt + hks goodies
  25. Has anyone had to replace the diff oil cooler on a uk mk4 tt, is it a toyota only part or is there a better aftermarket one available that fits straight in with no modding ? Regards Andrew(dunk)Shaw uk mk4 tt auto + hks goodies
