Which Turbo is Which?

Please forgive me for re-raising this old topic, but I've searched and to say the site has conflicting information is an understatement.

I've found the following threads to cloud the issue:

http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showpost.php?p=2889016&postcount=3

contradicted by this:

http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showpost.php?p=2355872&postcount=9

and this suggesting there is no difference between UK and JSpec

http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showpost.php?p=83990&postcount=11\

useful part numbers but no models :banghead:

http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showpost.php?p=781269&postcount=2

So can anyone say with any certainty which turbo (e.g. CT12 / CT12A / CT12B / CT20) was fitted to which model

UK Spec

J-Spec

J-Spec Facelift

J-Spec VVTI

Thanks in advance

Mike

Good thread Mike, I always wanted to know if there was a definitive answer to this as there is so much mixed opinion. My reply in the earlier thread you mention was wrong, the information on the site I used was revised afterwards

If the OEM spec lists are correct we should in theory be able to confirm two of them, the last two being 'expected' from the EPC results, though it isn't clear why the part number changed.

UK Spec = CT12B

J-Spec = CT20A

J-Spec Facelift = CT20A

J-Spec VVTI = CT20A

However, Chris Wilson has said at least once that he's seen a genuine UK car with original turbo's which had the CT12B casing but with a ceramic exducer. Hopefully Chris can confirm this, but it does throw a spanner in works of all OEM fitments being the same.

The EPC shows part numbers for the turbos went from 93/05 to 97/08, then were changed from 97/08 - onwards. So the J-spec and J-spec Facelift should have the same turbos, the J-spec VVTi had different turbos according to the part numbers (although fit is the same and they are interchangeable).
