jackso11
I have noticed that the door doesn't seem to sit correctly on my drivers side. Seems to be sticking out about 2mm further than the rest of the body when shut, also it doesn't make the same sound when shutting it as the passenger side. What can be adjusted when fitting a door? Haven't had this car long so not sure if the door has been off for any reason, there is no sign of any repair work except on the door card, passenger side speaker cover has a blueish tint (like its faded black material) but the driver side is original dar black (not faded at all). SupraGirlie
Sounds like it had an accident on that side at some point in its life, if nothing comes up on an HPI check, it was probably done in Japan. Had exactly the same problem on a previous Supra, sounded differently when I shut the passenger door, it never sat straight either, then I discovered it was a CAT C Have you looked down the side of the car, checked for ripples in the bodywork? jackso11
yes, there are no signs of any damage anywhere else, just the door that doesn't sit correctly. I suspect something has happened to the old door, nothing to the rest of the body of the car though. Been under the car, no sign of any repair work. Could be anything really, I changed a door on an old car of mine because it was cheaper than getting a dent in the door fixed. The door sids perfectly straight, just 2mm to far out. There must be something that can be adjusted to make it fit. Your reg document should say if it has been CAT C
Abz
Also have you checked the rubber on the door? I noticed on my drivers side, if you stand with the door open and you knee down and face towards the back of the Supra, you see the end of the rubber on the car (not the door). Mine has slightly rolled backwards so recently had this problem when you shut the door it does not shut properly. Though if you give it a little bit of force, shuts properly. Sorry about the rubbish explanation
jackso11
It dose sound like there is somehting in the way, like rubber. I thought it was the little rubber bung on the door, but it doesn't seem to be any different to the other side. I will check the bit you described Abz. Guest Tayousei
Open your door, and look on the door frame where there's a metal ring-lookin piece that the door latches to. Remove the rubber cover and unscrew it, move the whole piece in toward the body and re-screw it in. If your car was ever repainted, it probably just wasn't replaced properly. Problem fixed.
