I remember reading an article about possible issues with forged magnesium rims i will see if i can find it.

I have also heard something along these lines, something to do with them exploding :D

It looks like they are a single casting but not sure on the material.

I have had dozens of mag rims powder coated. What a lot of folks don't know is most modern rims are glued together, and the adhesive has a finite temperature ceiling, you need to be sure the oven process doesn't *ugger the bond if they are glued...

Speaking to some wheel refurb places today it would appear its the chemicals they use to strip the wheel, mag wheels have to be blasted rather than stripped.

What offset are those wheels Wez? Just interested as I'm trying (and really struggling) to find something close to stock size but lighter that clears UKs. :)

Front: 17x8 1/2J PCD114.3 OFF+40

Rear: 17/9 1/2JJ PCD114.3 OFF+38

These wheels are no longer available but they prob do others with a similar setup.

What diameter are you wanting? Have a look at Rays wheels, they manufacture the Gram Lights and Volk wheels. If you're wanting a lightweight wheel I would recommend either the Volk TE37 or CE28N.

Drop me a pm if I can help with more details/prices.

I don't particularly want to hijack Wez's thread, but I'm looking at either a 17" or 18" wheel, must have the correct spigot size, must be as close to stock offset as possible, and must clear UK brakes (or larger, possibly) - being multi-spoke and easy to clean would be a bonus. Looking around (I've been looking a lot :() the only real options I've found are UK 17s and Lexus 18s.. I may just have to accept those as my only options! :)
