supraturbochris
Noticed last night. I was only traveling around town, when the first turbo cuts in slightly, there is a slight whine, but then goes when giving a little more throttle. anyone had this before? i have checked and nothing has come off. Serviced 2 weeks ago.
mikeyb10supra
j-spec or UK spec?
miko_supra
sounds normal to me. Unless it is louder than normal and there is a leak somewhere. Is the boost pressure ok?
supraGZaerotop
its normal, mine whines like a good un, 1st tuby, jspec turbo are fairly load
supraturbochris
sorry its j - spec running bpu. Its weird, boosts up fine, hold boost pressure. just sounds a bit like a supercharger sound for about 2 seconds then stops. Bit worried really or is it just me being stupid? supraGZaerotop
mine does it to, you get the whine at first and when it get to around 2.5rpm, 3rpm it changes tone slightly to a faint drone for like 2 seconds and goes. thats the best way i can describe it, theres nothing wrong with my car, touch wood. its just the j-spec turbos. Bobbeh
I didn't think you get the whine on JDM turbos, they just disintegrate when the time comes.

bodilx6
well, its just the sound of turboes spinning up. The noise/whine (not to be mistaken for the 'death whine') is dependant of what speed the turbos are spinning. Apparently they whine a bit at spool up but into boost that changes to the more "sucking" induction noise. Also engine/exhaust noise will take over. So, no worries
