serpentine belt

hi my alternator belt often called a serpentine belt has just snaped got one on order but anybody got any tips on how to fit them never done one befor:search:

the belts route around the pulleys should be on a sticker in the engine bay or on the bottom of the bonnet........

 

Look at the lowest pulley on the engine, then the pulley above this will have a 14mm bolt head in its centre. Put a spanner on this bolt pointing at the battery (3 o'clock), push down hard and you will move this tensioner pulley. Then you'll see what you have to do, which is, get the belt around all the pulleys bar this one, and then push down on the spanner and move the belt onto the pulley at the same time.

hi just got my belt off e bay and try ed to fit it but is to big phoned the man up and he said he supplies lots of them and has had no problem any ideas:rolleyes:

hi got the right route old do the alternator have an adjuster just wounder if maybe the alternator is in the wrong position because last belt was slipping a bit but the tensioner is fine

hi found a belt to fit also found that the reason my old belt burnt trough and snapped is that the alternator had sized rusted solid. vents in bonnet must be letting in rain and dripping on alternator

does ur car have aircon? maybe this is an aircon one and ur car doesnt have it?

Can the engine start or even run like that then?
