Paul Laing
Theres a rattle coming from my actuator, where the gold bar goes into it and it's so annoying, it's not that loud but i know it's there! theres no loss in power or anything like that, but just want to know if theres anything i can do to fix this? When you put a screwdriver on it the rattle stops. This also doesn't start happening until the car warms up, theres no noise at all before then. Exhaust heat wrap might work, wrapped around the gold bar? Anything else, or anyone else had this noise? Thanks, Paul
outatime
Try what was suggested when you posted the same question two months ago: Actuator Help
Paul Laing
Nothing was suggested that helped, it's the gold bar making the noise going into the Actuator, not the hoses
outatime
Did taping up the gold bars not work?
Paul Laing
Chris Wilson told me thats a bad idea as they get cherry red! someone else said they go in and out also, is that true? I didn't think so
outatime
You'll have to find some way off dampening the rattle without restricting their movement. If you can find exactly where it is coming from, it shouldn't be too hard.
Paul Laing
I can feel a trip to Envy's mechanics coming on!!!!
outatime
If all else fails, you could try to get hold of an actuator from a stock twin to single conversion?
Paul Laing
Apparently you can only buy them with part of a turbo, very expensive, if anyone has UK actuators can i have em? Mcanny do you have some for sale from your blown turbo's? Can these be swapped without stripping the turbo's? Paul
MONKEYmark
does it rattle when the engine is turned off?
Paul Laing
It rattles when you rev it and the needle goes down, or when you take your foot off the pedal, when you put it back on and go again it stops! Yeah when you switch it off as the revs die the rattle happens till the engines stopped.....

Paul Laing
Can these just be changed or do you have to strip the turbo's? It'd the actuator near the downpipe. Cheers dude

Paul Laing
Dude, have you got any suggestions as to what i can do to stop it from rattling, it sounds like something catching on the exhaust heatshield but it's not. When you press the thing the gold bar goes into it stops and sounds so nice Then when you take away the screwdriver it starts again, not when idling or revving, just when the revs come down. Can it be wrapped, or something put in to stop it doing this? Paul

Paul Only suggestion is a vacum leak as when Matt H does his ETTC conv. you normally get a horible rattle on idle and its the actuator , if you switch back to seq. it goes , you can allways go single !!!! that will cure it !!!! Paul Laing
I'll go single if you want to donate a kit? I'm skint!!! lol Not sure if it's a leak as it's not there when the cars cold, just when it warms up, and when you press the actuator it stops, it must be the gold bar rattling against it i think
Keith C
Got the same myself. The problem is that on UK's there's an obstruction preventing easy access to the bar from the top, so while I know where it is, I can't easily reach it to do anything about it. M only question is: Is it likely to suddenly fail in some catastrophic way one day?
Paul Laing
What actually makes the rattle, is it the gold rod? Also will TTC sort this? Think you said it would make it worse Dude, is that right? Paul
