charlton
What modifications would be needed to make the NA engine look like a TT engine? Are they essentially the same engine but one with turbos and different compression rates etc? Obviously a turbo is needed, but when you have the NA-T conversions the engines still look different and it doesn't look right IMO. I would like to turbo mine but want it to look like a proper TT engine without dropping a TT lump in there or is that the easiest way?
JustGav
This has been the thought for a good while... However Chris Wilson cut a block in half I believe and there are some more differences. If you are referring to the cam covers, you can fit tt cam covers to it.

Anyone know what the findings were??? I thought other than the pistons and oil squirters they were the same...
Guigsy
i dont get the thinking behind this.... The na has the massive intake thing going over the top of it. the TT doesnt... so thats got to be the main problem.
jim_supra
To make the NA engine look like the TT engine you need to do away with the stock intake manifold and fit a TT style one (Dave H in america does them.) you will have to relocate the power steering reservoir, and possibly the battery depending on how you fit the filter gubbins. Once the manifold has been done you can then fit TT cam covers and the TT spark plug cover. Like in the pic below.
heckler
the TT engine also has oil squirters to cool the bottom of the piston, as far as I am aware th NA doenst
TrickTT
Once you've moved the inlet manifold, you need to take an angle grinder to the distributor and fit coil-over-plug ignition.
charlton
The na has the massive intake thing going over the top of it. the TT doesnt... That's the bit I don't like Like in the pic That looks nice, was that originally an NA?
jim_supra
That looks nice, was that originally an NA? It does doesn't it. And yes it was, you can still see the distributor and plug leads.
Guigsy
after doing all the work its probable easier and cheeper and more beneficial to do a swap
jim_supra
after doing all the work its probable easier and cheeper and more beneficial to do a swap Yes, as the inlet manifold alone is nearly £1000!
