Gough
Afternoon all, I have a hunch that my stock intercooler is in need of replacement. I poked it with a biro earlier on and it felt more brittle than bendy (its from a 93' model). I'll be getting a Chris Wilson replacement if it does need sorting. Its probably a bit tricky to tell from the pics but what do you all think? Thank you Gough
michael
That doesn't look too bad to be honest. This is when you need to worry: http://www.megaboost.co.uk/supra/mine/intercooler/standard-00.jpg http://www.megaboost.co.uk/supra/mine/intercooler/standard-01.jpg http://www.megaboost.co.uk/supra/mine/intercooler/standard-02.jpg More here: http://www.megaboost.co.uk/supra/mine/intercooler/ If you fancy a repair project I still have my dented ARC in the garage

Grazer
Who's got (had) the most knackered intercooler! http://homepage.ntlworld.com/gcsimpson/2004_06_intercooler02_small.jpg I would agree - yours doesn't look that bad, but if it's >10yr old then replacing it at some point probably wouldn't be a bad idea. I've got a CW SMIC now
Zed
Gough, what's the mileage on your car, because you intercooler looks fantastic considering it's over 10 years old. If there's something else you need to buy for the car then I would probably do that as all the fins on your IC look intact.
Terminator
That IC looks fine. No salt damage. It should be good for a few more years yet.
Jake
That looks mint. I can't believe that's a 10 year old IC!
Gough
Thanks chaps, yes the car is in good nick. I have BIMTA certificates guaranteeing that the cars mileage was 38,0000km (24,000 miles) when it was imported (6months ago), I have since added about 3000. I am aware what knackered intercoolers can lead to, and the car is a 1993 model (september 93 to be precise), hence my concerncs.... but bloody hell Grazer yours takes the biscuit! So far you all reckon mines got at least a years life left then? Here are some more pics of the car if anyones interested...

Chris Wilson
Much as i would like to sell you one of my last 2 stock mount uprated core intercoolers yours looks in excellent condition Maybe it's been replaced? Even a fairly minor front smack in the "wrong" place can damage them. Sure looks good for its age, unlike me.
Adam Kindness
my old supe's was starting to crumble at the touch of a finger.... FMIC was my next step.... but alas... i sold it... Wonder what my new ones like
Gough
Ah well sorry about that Chris Sent you an e-mail by the way. As far as I know its never been replaced, but then the car does seem to have led a very cosseted life back in Japan. Once again, thanks very much for all your replies folks
