Daston
Well this is a tall order for sure! My mate is planning on doing the 2009 Mongol Rally. Basically its a road rally from London to Mongolia. The rules state that your car can't be over 1000cc. So we were thinking it needs to be cheap, easy to fix, reliable, economical and have a good sized boot for spares and jerry cans. So far we have come up with Fiat Panda (I dont like this) Fiesta's Yaris Escorts Mini Any other ideas??
hoff
Depends how you drive it I suppose. My girlfriend had an old 106 which just kept on going.

Kranz
Citroen AX 0.954 litre 5 speed 5 door. I've just bought a 1.1 and it fits 4 BIG blokes in with relative comfort. Economy is outstanding. They are very reliable (as long as it is properly serviced before setting off). And easy to work on. They are also very common in the poorer countries as they were/are cheap. Spares are very readily available & very cheap. For more space fit a roof box. I had one on my old AX 954 and it was fine. If you want to find a car I can help as I'm also a member of (no laughing please) the AXOC.co.uk

Kranz
Depends how you drive it I suppose. My girlfriend had an old 106 which just kept on going. Same base vehicle as the AX and the Saxo. All good, dependable cars. The only concern may be spares availability depending on the countries they were exported to.

jim_supra
Horrible thing I used to work for them & don't rate their quality one bit. But as a bonus at least it isn't french I hate them too, but they are dirt cheap though so they could buy two and tow one behind them and use it for spares + storage space:d
ivan
But will one have enough guts to tow the other?
