gaz1
i have been offered promotion which i have verbaly agreed to, i have the papers in front of me now, and had a few stella,s:D, it will mean taking a fairly large paycut:( but will give me further opportunities and training for the future as i am no spring chicken anymore:rolleyes: "so i was told" but it would probably take me at least 5 years to get to the same money as i earn now:rolleyes: although it does have other benifits i.e bupa, better pension etc

Pot
I'm confused on the paycut issue?... How can that be justified? Unless the value of the new benefits meet or exceed your current pay?...
GazB
Does this mean you are moving off the tools and into management? Pay cuts normally occur when this happens, i had the same and my managers below me had the same, but with a constant salary and the perks of management you will feel better off eventuallly

JamieP
Sounds like they are not happy with how much money you are earning and trying to trick you into a paycut to me:D
Pot
I'm guessing from what you've said that you'll have a pay cut, but some additional benefits added on (The BUPA and so on)... How important are they to you?... (BUPA cover can be very worthwhile, as long as you make sure you balance the time you have off having every little thing fixed )

gaz1
Sounds like they are not happy with how much money you are earning and trying to trick you into a paycut to me:D its more blackmail than a trick they have been trying this for the last 8 years now, but i have probably been earning more than them though:D on the other hand i know the salary thay have offered this time is a lot more than anyone already earns on salary in my position, but taking a paycut is hurting me at the moment:( a few more stella,s might help numb the pain though:D
GazB
What directors are thinking is quite normal, you must have been expecting it to be suggested? Have they offered a bonus scheme that if you meet targets you will earn more than now? Get it in writting if they have, new laws mean bonus schemes are quite binding. Tuff decision though, iv'e been there, ended up leaving and forming my own company and haven't looked back since. Hard work and lots of stress though. Ended up with and heart attach in may 07. But as i don't answer to anyone now i'm taking it very easy

gaz1
I agree with Jamie. About 8 years ago that happend to me, promotion but from hourly to monthly and lost money and had to work more hours making it average out even worse. on the salary they have offered i could start taking things easier, but the salary package it self, if i do the same hours as say last year, i would lose out by 30k, but if i cut my hours down on salary it sort of matches if you see what i mean, but i know i could not keep up with the big hours forever:(
