Supragal
A question for you, especially if there are any from Bexhill. I was planning on taking the dogs for a walk on Bexhill beach this weekend, so I googled to find out which areas they were allowed on, but all I can seem to find is that the council were proposing a blanket ban on all dogs going on the beach. Can't find anything that say's this was ever passed etc... Anyone know please? I don't want to drive there to find out we are stuck.
tbourner
Is that a nice beach then? Why not just go to local beach?
AndrewOW
Well I'm in Eastbourne, and dogs are banned from most of the beaches along the main stretch, but the rules are relaxed towards Holywell (which is the most picturesque IMO), so maybe parts of Bexhill are the same. Tricky-Ricky is from St Leonard's/Hastings area, and he may know more about it than me. I seem to remember that another member from around that area, but their name escapes me at the moment! You're quite welcome to come to Eastbourne though
Supragal
I will be staying in Eastbourne at my mums, by my old school mate lives in Hastings so we were going to meet up half way (Bexhill) to walk the dogs, we used to go to Bexhill beach a lot when we were kids and they are less steep and more sandy than Eastbourne to the point where if the tide is right out you can't even see the water, amazing. The dog beaches at Eastbourne scare me a bit as they are so near the road and quite small so people cram onto them so it's not really ideal for dog walking There is someone from Bexhill on here I'm sure! I won't have the Supe otherwise I would have suggested a meet
AndrewOW
A meet would've been a good idea Where I was recommending, was the promenades to the west of town, towards the cliffs (Holywell), past the Grand Hotel. They are well away from the road, as you have to descend several tiers of them to get any where near the sea. Its lovely down there, and its easy free parking up on the road toward the foot of the cliffs, which is called Grand Parade or something. I take Lexi for walks along there all the time, even though she hates the water, and avoids the roller bladers lol Well I hope you find out what you want to know. A chap I work with here mentioned that he thinks that dogs aren't allowed on any of the beaches along the East Sussex County Council region. Supragal
Yeah I know where you mean, that bit is away from the road you are right. It still always seems to be all stones and no sand when I go, even at low tide. I've just looked and the lowest it will be this weekend is 2.4 or something so it isn't even going to get really low, boo It'll be a shame if they do introduce such drastic measures. Crazy. I can understand not allowing them on all beaches but they should designate some.
tbourner
Why aren't they allowed then? As long as poopy scooping is compulsory.
DaveK
Why aren't they allowed then? As long as poopy scooping is compulsory. Sticking to the speed limit is compulsory. It doesn't mean everybody does it.
Supragal
I guess it's disruptive. I can understand that. Kids splashing in the breakwater/making sandcastles, picnics etc, and a lot of people don't clear up after them even if it is law (dogs I mean). What annoys me is people that choose to sit on dog beaches then whinge when you take your dog on there. Whatever, p*ss off to the non dog ones then!! KaoriFan
hi, it's me living in Bexhill, not so sunny today. was not sure of the dog areas, so found this document which lists all the places you can and cannot take dogs in Bexhill. lists the groyne areas on the beach where they are allowed. One thing to watch for, most of the beach is stones, unless the tide is out where you can get to the sand. hope this helps http://www.rother.gov.uk/media/pdf/h/n/Summary_of_Existing_Dog_Controls.pdf a thought, it is only small document 3 or 4 pages, maybe an idea to print it and take it with you in case someone argues the point of where dogs are allowed ja ne Ian
Supragal
Hello Bexhill person I did find that, but I think I am being incredibly thick and I just can't understand what it is saying!! I will give it another read, good idea about printing it off. I've looked up the low tide times and I'll see what the weathers like. I may just go to Pevensey bay or something!! Local council speak;)designed to confuse! sorry i don't know about the dog friendly beaches either, been a few years since i have owned a dog, like many coast people, i live close to the beach, and hardly ever go near it:innocent:
KaoriFan
section 1C seems to list the areas between groynes where dogs are allowed to be on the beach, and the slopes leading to the beach from the road/pavement. there are also 'dog mess' bins along the promenade at various places too. sure is typical council speak. lol

Supragal
Yeah I've had a good read and it makes some sense, thank you Knowing me we won't end up going after all this!! Downs are good, as is Friston Forest. We'll probably go to Butts Brow for one walk for sure.

As the air's so thin being so high up I don't know if she'll cope Hope you enjoy your weekend down this way anyway. Maybe take some photos. AndrewOW
Why don't you come along for a dog meet? A dog meet sounds like a good idea. What day were you planning on? I think saturday is meant to have the better weather, but sunday is always a good dog walking day. You have great danes don't you? Lexi is a miniature Jack Russell with big ears. A slight contrast! Supragal
No Danes yet!!! I have a Ridgeback and a Dobermann. We're heading down straight after work tonight and coming back Sunday eve so we'll be about both days. They are madly playful and can get a bit OTT with shoulder barging etc, I should warn you of that now in case it's not Lexi's cup of tea!! Do you know how to get to the car park at the Top of Butts Brow?

Do you know how to get to the car park at the Top of Butts Brow? Oh sorry, I get so confused by all the lovely doggies we have on here. Lexi will be fine with any dog, as long as they don't bark too much, as it freaks her out a bit Yes I know now (after asking here for directions) how to get to the car park! Its a pay and display as well so I've been told Sunday would be better for me, but PM me when you know for sure on a time
