Such a different culture entirely, friendly people, good food, throw their sewage onto the street etc. He's booked to go again at the end of the year. There are fancy hotels and Western influenced and expensive areas just like anywhere else for the typical "package holiday" thing (yawn) but to be honest it's such a vibrant place you probably want to go back to basics and really experience the place - the culture and sights are amazing, it would be a shame to go but miss the point of it. stayed in Marrakesh in a traditional style Riad, really explored the town which was a real culture shock. Note really a dull moment, love to go back - probably will in the near future people are very friendly, most speak Arabic/Berber/French but many also speak English - and they generally seemed to love the English be careful what you eat, avoid anything in contact with their water (that hasn't been cooked) - I was careful yet still ill afterwards - bottled water is everywhere though - I was probably just unlucky Such a contrast from well off to extremely poor, you really should research before going to pick a suitable destination. really depends what you want from a holiday, some people go to England abroad in Spain, others choose to experience something quite different - this is much more a place to do the later not the former Apparently has beach resorts too, such as Essaouira really would say it's a "must visit country" for people who want to see the world.
