major major neck problems

Recommended Posts

Well as some of you know, i had a crash about 2months ago. I suffered abit of whiplash and some back problems. The whiplash comes and goes from time to time but never nothing serious

I woke up this morning with a really stiff neck. Went to work and managed to cope with the pain. I came home at 10am to see the maternity nurse with jem. got changed out of my scruffs. When i stood up and just dropped to the floor like a sack potatoes. The pain from my neck was absolutly unbearable. It lasted for about 10 seconds.

Now i cant even move my neck. each movement i make nearly drops me to the floor and I just start to sweat instantly. Its not getting any better guys.

I'm just wondering if this is the whiplash kicking in again with a vengeance. Or is it something else. Feels like i've broke my pissing neck:(

Any advise?

Trapped nerve. Something has probably stretched in your spine and now its pressing on your spinal cord. Wont kill you or leave you in a wheelchair, but you do need to seek medical advice & probably physio as it will only get worse (i know.. been there myself).

But its down the side of my neck. There's no pain in my spine. I cant even put my head back to its normal position. I'm having to keep my neck tilted to the right.

I've felt some pain in my life time but it doesn't compare to this. I sound like a bloody girl but its unbearable.

Sounds muscular, but every injury is different - and when it comes to your neck, you don't want to take any chances by accepting that something said on an internet discussion database is going to necessarily be good advice.

Get yourself off to a doctor or to the hospital just to make sure they haven't missed anything. (I'm assuning you sought medical attention after the crash...)

I finished my physio 4 weeks ago. He said i need more treatment and he would get in touch with the 3rd party insurers to see if they will pay for more. Well i thought that it had gone and didnt bother chasing up on extra sessions. Spoke to physio clinic and they said that they are still chasing up on the extra sessions. and that direct line wont reply to there emails.

What the hell am i to do. There's no way i'm paying About £50 for a neck massage.

Yea i went straight to the hospital. It wasnt even half as bad as it is now. They just said that i had whip lash and just to rest and take pain killers.

So you reckon i should go back.

NHS have good physios too you know ;)

Go to your GP and explain what has happened, the fact that you passed out is not good at all, im sure they will reffer you for an x ray and physio.

Good luck chap :)

NHS are ok, had some on my back after I broke my collar bone.

other option is find someone who does Indian Head massage (do a lot of work on the neck and surrounding areas as well), it's a damn sight cheaper then physio

well just got back from the hospital. They nearly broke my Bast**d neck. He stuck his knuckles in and tried twisted my neck. the language that came from my mouth was atroshus.

He had the cheek to say do i feel any better. I nearly said, let me kick you in the balls and then ask me again.

He told jemma to repeat the process when we get home. Now correct me if wrong, but to ask someone who's not qualified to mess around with someones neck shouldn't be working in a hospital.

He just said keep taking the nurofen and keep minipulating the muscle, it should go within 3 to 10 days:blink:

Thats what a GP said to my friend when he strained a ball doing heavy lifting. He has only got one now........

I used to suffer from really bad pains in my neck as the base on the left hand side all of the time... However, I also had trouble with my back just before Christmas (Apparently it's my lower lumbar extension), and as I'm a geeky IT fella the Doc recommended a new chair...

So we got the company we use (Posturite) out to get one, the Doc did recommend one of those Swedish ones you kneel in, but as I've got a knackered knee we decided that wasn't good... But we got something that's really good to sit in, I guess the 'one size fits all' chairs you get in offices aren't great for 6'4" fat blokes who sit in them all day and night...

However, I've only just noticed that I haven't had an issue with my neck in months!... And now I'm really happy :D

And I've also just thought this isn't really much help to you... Hmmm... Good posture is everything :) What'd you do for work? If it's desk work, get a letter off your Doc anyway and go for what you can get for your desk, quite soon I'm getting mine raised by 4 inches... lol

And I hope you get yourself sorted :)

Bottle of Vodka a day also helps, although your liver will be up the swanny as quick as your neck ;) :D

Regards,

Gaz.

I'm a leather upholsterer so i guess theres nothing i can do to stop the pain but have time off. My work is quite strenuous, I find my self in all sorts of positions.:eyebrows:

It was only a few months back when i thought that my carpals in my wrists were knackered. I had total numbness and pins and needles in my hands. But for some strange reason its gone.

I'd swap that for my neck pain any day.

Yup - been there too. Plenty of physio was needed to get that under control :(

I don't use the computer much to play games any more now. Business ours only, even then less than I used too.

Sometimes it gets bad and I wear one of those wrist supports with the metal bar in.

As mentioned above, a decent chair and good posture does wonders.
