Change your BBS name that might help;)

Unless the TC kicked in I doubt that would have slowed you down much.

May be he has an auto:D

Could be many reasons, if he has a manual he may have been using different gears, that would make a huge difference.

When I first got mine I though that UK maunals were much faster now I know different:devil: :D

So when Traction Control is disconnected, there is still TC gearing soaking up power?

He reckoned that he didnt kick down, but he must have :D

I suppose.............maybe..................perhaps.............sigh..........

god this hurts....................In a straight line...........on a dual carriageway, an auto is probably quicker unless the manual driver has Schumackers reflexes:cool:

I've had both... I can guarantee that auto's are quicker point to point cars. The manuals are better in and out of corners.

They both have their pro's and con's, so I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

Next time, cruise along at about 40, then drop it into 2nd and floor it away. This is one of the areas you can catch an auto out. It's too slow for the 2nd turbo to kick in, but too fist to kick down ;)

when i racing in auto i always move gears in manual. in ttc mode if you want instant power just drop it into second for a split second and its away. manuals seem more of a fun car as you sem to be doing more with your hands and you have more involvement. still crap they always seem to get beat off the mark by an auto car. more room for driver error with a manual. i have my trac fuse pulled all the time, shortens gearbox life but they pretty cheap to buy second hand as there is millions of them about.

would like a manual for a week to see what all the fuss is about. but i have a manual escort 1.6 16v beast for the twisties :innocent:

Oh no no no no no people. We cannot under any circumstances do without the manu mode!!!! The manu mode is what will completely whoop a manual boxed car. This bollox of a manual car beating an auto into and out of corners is just that. In an auto you can pre-select your gear ie bang it down in manu mode to third at high speeds by pressing the manu button and it will drop down when it is safe to do so seamlessly, or whack manu and drop it back to 2nd or L and it will do the same. Balls balls balls to anyone that says that the auto is not as much fun to drive as a manual.

I don't remember saying that the auto wasn't fun to drive?

But you can catch the auto out, and in those places the manual has the advantage... (40 mph out of a corner and the manual will have the edge).

However, the auto also has advantages, like less gear changes making it quicker in a straight line.

They're both good, and both have advantages and disadvantages. :innocent:

I have to admit there are a couple of places where the auto gearbox can be caught out.

But I don't appreciate these secrets being divulged in such a public place:p :flame Dev

I think a manual would ultimately be better in the twistes, but like most other things it would take a fcuking good driver capitalise on this.

On most of us mortals the difference is negligable.
