JustGav
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6230382.stm The HSE found that Mr Hammond's life had "almost certainly" been saved by safety features including: * the build of the Vampire car, which survived the crash intact * the "driver restraint arrangements", and choice of crash helmet worn by Mr Hammond * emergency services on site Hmmm, lets think about that... Roll cage - Check Harness - Check Helmet - Check Why do these studies always seem to bring out the obvious statements....

carl0s
Richard Hammond suffered serious brain injuries in the crash, but doctors hailed a "remarkable" recovery that enabled him to leave hospital five weeks later. See, I'm cynical as ever. I don't think he is/was really brain damaged at all, I think the whole thing was over exaggerated for the purposes of either: Publicity. An Insurance Claim. Have I over stepped the mark with my cynicism?
carl0s
Don't get me wrong, it was a shocking and emotionally disturbing crash, but..
carl0s
Mind you, what would the doctors gain from saying brain damage/injury. I'm talking to myself, guess I'm wrong

Class One
See, I'm cynical as ever. I don't think he is/was really brain damaged at all, I think the whole thing was over exaggerated for the purposes of either: Publicity. An Insurance Claim. Have I over stepped the mark with my cynicism? I disagree. You only had to watch him in the studio during the last series and compare how he was pre accident. He's changed and the public bravado about him not being affected is just BS IMO. Whilst I agree that he has made a remarkable recovery from what was deemed to be a life threatening significant brain injury, I would definately say that he has been altered somewhat. The first couple of episodes after he'd returned he seemed like he was in a daze! Hope he makes a full recovery if he hasn't already!! H.
